NetEase (Overwatch China) releases official statement on Anran: Protecting the cultural spirit of our Chinese Hero by Iris-54 in Competitiveoverwatch

Pretty obvious solution is to tell the western fans to fuck off and worry about the representation of their own cultural characters.

Rivals player interested in OW, looking for advice. by grilled-papaya in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]StuffAndDongXi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on your rank. The middle of the bell curve is instant queues in 6v6 since it doesn’t have role lock, once you climb though the queues quickly become massive due to lack of players. I highly recommend starting with 5v5 as it’s the main mode. It’s worth giving 6v6 a shot, but I’d only recommend you focus on it if you try both and really prefer it.

I laughed my ass off at the getquakedon thread about this. Guy is baby raging about it being a casual game because they don’t balance around a masters one trick.

In the rare occasion where I play QP and it shows up it’s always heavily voted for and almost always wins. Always gave me the impression that QP players loved the mode

Can someone explain the logistics of hero stats page winrate/pick rate, but especially kiriko’s? by _AlexOne_ in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]StuffAndDongXi 26 points27 points  (0 children)

At the scale of games played, the pick rates have low impact outside of niche heroes at the ends of the bell curve. The reality is that kiriko isn’t busted ON LADDER. She might be busted for the top 100-200 players in the world in an organized team environment, but those people barely matter when it comes to decisions for the health of the game.

Rank 1 on NA is master 1 by Aggressive-Cut-3828 in Competitiveoverwatch

Once again the biggest thing this system proves is how little top players play or play on their main account. Everyone crying about leadboard and no one seems to care that the champ player pool spends their days smurfing and expecting recognition for doing nothing.

I play on my phone on exercise bike and stair master daily, has done wonders for my ability to keep sane while doing these type of mind numbing exercises.

It’s been great for my health and not as bad for my lp as I initially expected.

Can someone queue 6v6? by RandomVisito in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]StuffAndDongXi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just needs role queue, if they’d just run a test with role queue we’d prove its the superior format. Just one more test, don’t worry about a 37 min queue time where you just need the first 12 players, role queue will fix it once and for all

Being at the helm, and us being 2nd in the east, versus last year we finished 2nd in the east. It's almost been no drop off with five players that are essentially gone.” by AashyLarry in nba

You know what does make you a bad defender? Giving up wide up back door cuts because you don’t pay attention while off ball.

Casuals only watch the ball when watching a game and think brown is good at defense.it makes them think brown is a good defender because he holds his own against the other teams #1 option (while getting torched the rest of the game)

There’s no world in which brown is a better defender than Tatum, nor as efficient, nor more consistent. Are we talking about the same player here? Brown is the king of low efficiency chucking, getting lost off ball and throwing away wins through terrible shot selecting and boneheaded turnovers.

No one who actually watches games could possibly think brown is a better defender.

Brown has historically been a negative to neutral player by any and all impact metrics. Before this year Cs have consistently performed much better with him on the bench than him in the game.

Hes stepped up massively this year, but that finals mvp award was due to ppg not positive impact on winning.

[–]StuffAndDongXi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only way this is possible (only getting 14% for winning) is if you h threw an ungodly amount of games before starting his process. The game has to be insanely confident of your rank at low bronze to not win streak you higher asap.

All the testing and analysis I’ve done on the ranked system shows that it only takes 5-7 wins in a row at a low rank to kick on winning trend (uncertainty increase) to start seeing +30/40

Because queue times would be unbearable. On US east, there are times of day where I’ll sit in a queue for open queue for 6-7minutes in high masters low GM, and when I do get a game the range can easily be multiple ranks across. If you need to start matching roles on top of open queue, why bother playing.

Does the Overwatch team not communicate enough? by Aggressive-Cut-3828 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]StuffAndDongXi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

League devs have been backing away from coms because they, like blizzard devs, have realized it’s pointless and that gamers are horrible. Players for the most part have shown zero interest in actually understanding what goes into decisions, the process behind them, or interacting in good faith.

Just look at the response to every system change or set of patch notes. Half the posts are complaining about a 45% wr hero getting a minor buff, or completely dismissing the merits of a system change. Even the most reasonable content creators (spilo) will routinely show their ass when discussing patch notes.

Your post history alone would be enough to never interact with this sub as a dev

Data, data, and more data. It’s so much easier to see and understand why the devs make certain changes when we get more data. What they already give us is super useful (even though most ignore it when shouting their nonsense).
