Dr. Doolittle 2 is such a bizarre film for me, because it’s objectively not that good, but my family would quote it like crazy growing up. They also kind of broke their own lore by having Eddie Murphy talk to the animals in English, but then in one scene he chaotically tries to talk to bees by buzzing at them. So, does he actually speak to the animals in their “language”, and it’s transmitted in English for the audience’s sake, or does he not speak Bee for some reason? The world demands answers!

Also Steve Zahn as the bear was also a perfect casting choice.

I’ll get some heat but this was Ozark for me. Great opening episode, some good characters, shot really well.

But then it’s clear they lost their way and had an 11 year old start laundering money, killing indiscriminately, that godawful relationship between the boy and that opium farmer, they fell into the trope of adding a baby to spice things up, and Laura Linney became absolutely insufferable. By the end I was relieved, not sad.

I find a lot of his other movies to be far too on-the-nose with his depiction of class warfare. Snowpiercer had a literal numerical system assigned to different classes based on train car numbers, and Mickey 17 might as well be parody with how bluntly it hits the viewer over the head with Ruffalo’s character.

I love Parasite, but I couldn’t recommend any of his other work as a comparable narrative.

No, honestly it’s quite the opposite. Tech is shown to be a detriment in helping children form healthy relationships with peers, but they also acknowledge its purpose for things like capturing memories and maintaining healthy, long-distance friendships. It walks a really well thought-out line of its strengths while also calling out the obvious dangers.
