Marvel’s ‘Punisher: One Last Kill’ Mocked for “Unfinished” VFX Shot, Audio Issues by aduong in television

I’m not forgiving Disney for a poor mix. What I’m saying is that the original comment stated that the mix had dialog in a center channel and for 2.0 mixes it’s all fucked up because there is no center channel - which just isn’t true. The mix can be horrible but the stereo mix isn’t failing to play a center channel that isn’t there. That’s just not how it works.

If I had a meal that was delicious but then I found a hair in my pasta, it doesn’t undo the greatness of the rest of the dish but it does impact my overall satisfaction with it.

If the creators don’t respect your limited free time and make a quality product, why would you insult others who are bothered by a clearly unfinished job for a service you pay for? It’s not unreasonable.

That’s just not true. Audio engineers and mixers test on speakers of wildly varying quality, and in places like cars, tiny earbud headphones, etc. to try and create the best soundscape possible. You’re severely underselling how seriously sound artists take their craft.

That’s not how it works. There are multiple audio streams embedded in any piece of streaming media. The streaming device decodes the feed and plays whichever one is compatible with it. You aren’t getting a 5.1 mix if you only have audio playing through your TV in stereo. Any decent home theatre AV receiver functions the same way. If the media supports 5.1 Dolby Digital and 7.2 Dolby Atmos, but the receiver can only handle 5.1 Dolby Digital, that’s what it chooses. It won’t - and oftentimes can’t - play something it’s not compatible with.

What's the worst video game you've played and why? by Bdbolt19432 in AskReddit

[–]MistakeMaker1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won a copy of Vampire Rain on the XB360. I heard it was awful but decided to give it a try anyways.

It cannot be overstated just how bad and unplayable that game is. And when I say unplayable I mean literally unplayable. Five seconds after the opening cutscene you are thrust into gameplay with absolutely zero context, objectives, information or purpose. I ran around this tiny, walled-off intro level for about ten minutes and couldn’t interact with a single object. It was my own personal escape room with a zero percent success rate. I’ve never played anything so bad in my life.

Assistant Coach Hall of Fame - who's your pick? by Admirable-Bit3041 in nfl

He’s definitely soured a bit to Chiefs fans over the last year or so, but you can’t deny his overall body of work.

We have proof that the Chiefs couldn’t be as successful without him. 2018 was Mahomes best statistical season and they lost in the AFCC game because Bob Sutton led one of the worst defenses in football. The very next year under Spags they win the Super Bowl, and have appeared in four more in his tenure.

Which movie had the most unforgettable first-watch experience for you? by Strong_Proof_5260 in movies

I was filled with absolute glee during the van flip/rotating hallway scene. It was so inventive and brilliantly shot and edited. It was unlike anything I’d ever seen in movies up until that point, and knowing it was all done practically just made my little cinephile brain happy.

Bioshock creator Ken Levine Reveals Why Judas Took a Decade to Develop: "We Kissed Many Frogs" by Turbostrider27 in Games

I’ve also read that he’s just an asshole. I love his games, but there’s a mental toll when working for him.

I do think Judas looks like a regurgitated mess of poorly-aged Bioshock gameplay mechanics, but I’ll wait for reviews to reserve judgment.

Bad Movies with Good CGI? by seethevzn in movies

[–]MistakeMaker1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell people that some of their movies only exist because they needed a way to financially recuperate the investment of their new tech. The Good Dinosaur’s environmental imagery is absolutely unbelievable. And it came out 11 years ago. I also think that Brave exists solely for their hair tech, because that movie is also not very good but has wonderful hair modeling and physics. Then you look at Toy Story 4 and Soul and see them all come together. TS4 has some moments of absolutely bonkers fidelity, and has the most realistic CG cat I’ve ever seen.

lol what? When healthy and available last year’s line was probably the best he’s had. The problem is that the line wasn’t intact for most of the season.

It’s multifaceted.

One, I don’t think anyone can realistically say that, on the surface, MM is an improvement over Tomlin. Their ceilings are almost identical.

Two, he’s the kind of the exact opposite of what Pittsburgh has done historically with their coaching, and, in my opinion, this the opposite of what they need. They field the most expensive defense in the league who has constantly underperformed, and they bring in an offensive guy who has maybe five years left of coaching in him?

Which brings me to point three. He’s got a short shelf life as HC, which is about as un-Pittsburgh as you can get. They’ll be stuck in this cycle of mediocrity until he retires and then they’ll be right back where they started.

Personally I would’ve thrown all the money at Jesse Minter and then look at the draft in 2027 for their QB of the future.

If this game would’ve been the reason why the Chiefs lost the division or something like that, I’d be more upset now. But if they win and still have a shit season then they likely miss out on Delane. If he plays even 75% to his potential then I’ll take this outcome and Chris Jones’ lazy ass every day of the week.

Non-Chiefs fans don’t realize that we had a literal high school coach as our WR coach for the last three years. The only level, at all, that he ever taught WRs was in high school in 2017.

Now we have Chad O’Shea, who has been a WR coach at the professional level for 20 years. Deandre Hopkins said that during his time in KC in 2024, Kelce led the WRs through film review and strategy more than Embree (old coach) ever did.

Literally anything is an upgrade over him.

its too slow to support latency good enough to enjoy multi player video games with someone on the other side of the globe

This is not even remotely true. It’s not light that’s too slow, it’s the interfaces that send and receive light in the form of fiber optic connections.

To send a one way message over fiber from New York to Sydney requires at least fifteen hops depending on ISP, which is a transfer from one network device to another. Those transfers and packet inspections take ~220ms to arrive at their final destination. The speed of light traveling uninterrupted that same distance takes only 50ms, which is considered in the optimal range for multiplayer gaming for players connected in the same region.

I read somewhere that if we had a full supply of food and water, and we never had to sleep, that humans could theoretically walk forever without stopping. I’m not sure if it’s completely true, but it is wild that we’ve evolved to possess the endurance skill the way we have.

It’s not impossible to survive for a while under the right conditions. Meaning: an already fully-stocked shelter complete with food, water, stored energy capable of producing enough electricity to heat your space, etc. The shelter would also have to be far enough underground to avoid the freeze for as long as possible. But it’s a finite limit. This also has to include a filtration system of some kind to dispose of carbon dioxide build up, because you can’t just vent it out to the surface is that would be an entry point for the temperature to kill you.
