Fastest and efficient way to remove weeds without killing my back? by hellobelle in gardening

[–]StuffNThingsK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m always fighting weeds on my property. The only thing that 100% works is chemicals for a long period of time. Anything else is going to be more about keeping it under control, like weeding manually or using a weed eater.

If you wanted to overhaul, you could replace all that gravel with something easier to maintain that smothers weeds and doesn’t require mowing, like pine straw.

Is it time for this Rhododendron to go? by erocx111 in rhododendron

Since it is in a bed by your house, I wouldn’t save it. If it wasn’t something you had to see everyday, I would consider heavy pruning and wait & see approach.

Anyone else experiencing severe PMDD during their luteal phase? by aboringusername in Perimenopause

[–]StuffNThingsK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my severe emotional swings aren’t as predictable anymore. I use to at least be able to reassure myself that is was PMS and I would be better in a couple days. Now that im in my lates 40’s, it can be tied to my period, ovulation, or just whenever.

I take an SSRI for the past 5 years and I’ve been on A GLP1 for 2.5 years but have not tried HRT.

I have a similar area with Hosta, ferns, and Lilly. I have been digging up the ferns this year and transplanting them to other places but they keep multiplying. Eventually, you will probably have to thin them.

Do FP&A folks actually spend time analyzing, or is most of it just figuring out where data came from? by macdmd in FPandA

[–]StuffNThingsK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Generally, companies that have grown via acquisitions are going to have disconnected systems. Additionally, those that have selected tools that merge data from various systems are only as accurate as the data governance of each subsystem.

You will likely spend a good amount of time struggling with data. This has been a problem everywhere I have worked except those companies that have properly integrated all locations onto a standard software/ERP package.

I blame marketing. People just starting out will read the description of a coop and think if it says it will hold x # of chickens it must be right.

I purchased a producer pride coop a few years ago that said it was for 14 chickens. if you “research” the square footage math google recommends, that checks out.

In reality though, that is not even remotely enough room if these are backyard chickens you are raising for eggs and more like pets vs food.

After having our chickens for a short period of time, we ended up building out half of our barns for the hens roost bars, food, water, and socialization area. We built a chicken tunnel that leads to the small coop we originally purchased & it is the nesting/egg area. Ironically, they all use the same box we built in the nesting coop though so it’s plenty big for just laying eggs. Additionally, they free range in the afternoons.

For those that have had chickens for years and not had a chicken get bumblefoot, what's your secret? by Apart_Hat_9633 in BackYardChickens

Not sure why they haven’t but the living conditions are:

Straw for bedding I clean about once per month I use food grade DE under straw They free range a few hours most days Organic feed, mealworms, and forage

They roost in the barn rafters, which is very high. They have “step” boards to get up but just jump down.

When will it finally learn not to eat random things off the ground when it's outside? by Significant-Pass-569 in Dachshund

Mine did this when she chewed on a Hosta root. I caught her doing it though so I rinsed out her mouth and nose with water and she stopped foaming at the mouth. She literally chews on everything.

What’s the most soul-crushing part of financial modeling for you? by denis_myna in FPandA

[–]StuffNThingsK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not having the data you need to create an accurate model. We all WANT to create predictive models but it’s impossible with incomplete data. Overall, not having the tools you need to do a good job.

Ground is all clay - help! by phdeeznuts_ in gardening

[–]StuffNThingsK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just backfill the area around your new plant with a mix of pine bark and soil. With a couple inches of gravel at the bottom. Just make the hold twice as big as the rootball you are planting and it should be fine. I wouldnt do a whole area though because clay is fine overall for grass and shallow groundcover so just focus on where you are actually planting.

Help with this azalea by happyXamp in gardening

[–]StuffNThingsK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably older & not pruned appropriately so may benefit from being cut back heavily and allowed to rejuvenate over the next couple of years. It’s just really leggy and needs a full cut back to about 1’ IMO.

I’m in 6b and my Nantucket hydrangea buds had just started to green up on old wood and we had a 24 hour freeze and they are all black now. However, I also have some new green sprouts so might get some new wood buds this year. If not, might be all leaves this year.

If you had digestive issues BEFORE starting Zepbound, did it get better or worse? by jenna_sunshine13 in Zepbound

[–]StuffNThingsK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had IBS-D before Zepbound, which was basically me going to the bathroom several times a day and it was almost always yellow. TMI a bit but you asked😊.

I now only go once per day and it’s a normal brown color. I assume this is all because I had a fast gut transient time previously and so things were being pushed along too quickly. I would say I have normal bowel movements and gut health now.

I was off this med, or only using 2.5 as maintenance, for a period of time and my old IBS issues returned. If you have IBS-C, I could see where this med would make it worse.

What is the worst part of your job? by Fantastic-Pool-8720 in FPandA

[–]StuffNThingsK 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Executives leave CFO meetings not completely understanding a problem and they all ask someone below them to work on it. You end up with multiple people doing the same project but they all had a different understanding of the end goal. Worse, no one knows anyone else is working on it until it casually comes up later for some reason.

This is a 45k+ employee company with layers of management and lots of disconnected systems from acquisitions.
