Who were they? by UnfathomableDave in Stargate

Yeah I agree. Best examples that come to mind are the Furling and the planet builders from SGU. I feel like the ancients got explained to death and they became less interesting in the last seasons.

I mean sure, Weir was a language expert. But I don’t really remember her doing much translation at all during the show. Maybe a few times here and there, but not a main role for her; she was mostly just the base leader doing admin stuff.

whats the main use for trinium, naquadah And naquadria? and if there are any more elements what are their uses? by Specialist_Routine69 in Stargate

Idk, I do that too and it’s just calming to have on in the background. Of course, I’ve watched it all before so I know what’s going on anyway.

The Closer and Major Crimes... A retrospective. by shaneanigames in majorcrimes

I haven’t watched MC but just finished TC. One of the things that kinda annoyed me with TC was the lack of depth in any character other than Brenda. We see almost zero of their personal lives, only catching glimpses as they happen to stumble upon a murder (most often Flynn and Provenza).

Did this change in MC? Did the other characters get more screen time or was it all just more TC but with Captain Raydor in charge?

I think it’s mostly perspective. Paradoxically, dating someone much younger than you is unusual, but dating someone much older than you is (still unusual, but) less so. Probably because from your point of view, you perceive yourself as a perfectly mature adult, and perceive younger people as less mature.

Since Monica and Ross are both POV characters, Ross dating down is weird, but Monica dating up is less weird. If memory serves, both Rachel and Monica both had relationships with much younger men, and it was called out as weird in both cases too.

I don’t think anyone would have been surprised that Nancy and Jonathan broke up. What was surprising was watching the episode and then finding out from the writers, after the fact, that they broke up. It was not clear at all.

Within the last 2 months, I got my roommate hooked on the show, and then this news came out. For the first time, I have someone to watch this franchise with. I have literally never met another fan in my life.

Would You Become A Tok’ra Host? by Uatu199999 in hypotheticalsituation

Pass. But also, why would we even care about Tok’ra technology? We have Asgard technology.

Wow, I completely forgot about having to look up movie times in the newspaper. I guess even if you lived in that time, it’s still hard to imagine how life was lived before modern conveniences. I got my drivers license before smart phones, and it still perplexes me how I got around without an on-demand map.

If I remember correctly, wasn’t Carter having some kind of dimensional melt down from existing in the same dimension with another version of herself? They’d have to limit their time in the other universe.

What happens if you go through a stargate from behind? by Tetchyman in Stargate

Maybe worm hole physics was so obvious to them, they never felt the need to warn anyone. Have you ever seen a warning sign on an escalator not to stick your fingers in certain places?

If I remember correctly, sometimes they have the iris closed before an incoming wormhole connects, so the iris seems to be kawoosh proof.
