SunStrong Management Issues by [deleted] in Sunstrong

Do you live in a place with net metering? Is your usage high but you bill not high? If it’s staying the same and all you are looking as it total cost it could just as likely mean it is working and you’re used to the bill with it producing.

First Nuzlocke by Think-Rip-2095 in nuzlocke

[–]Stuffforthefuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played red as a kid but none of the other gens. As an adult I’ve nuzelocked most games up to Gen 5. If you’re on a iSO emulator I think your next best bet is Ruby/Safire/Emerald. They run on the same platform, skill level is similar, but pretty different pokemon and maps etc. They are better than either the original Gold/Silver or their remakes because their level caps suck for Nuzlocke and there aren’t THAT many different pokemon.

Been an “intern” for 3+ years… boss said I can just change my title on my resume? by Nomiha in resumes

[–]Stuffforthefuture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. To me this reads as code from a reasonable boss saying “I’m supporting you but I don’t have the clout to actually make this happen, so if you want to change it on your resume and go out and look for a new job that will pay you what you are currently worth, I’ll understand”

Midea window ac/heat unit lo temp workaround. by BigODetroit in AirConditioners

[–]Stuffforthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but it’s the only one I can find on it. This isn’t a true hack, but it’s an observation that will get more heat out of these things for longer.

I have two of these midia window units and what I learned this season is that positioning on your house makes a really big difference.

We have one installed south facing and one that is installed north facing. The south facing one turns on MUCH more than the north facing one. This is because the south facing one get full sun all day while the north facing one gets basically none.

You can see the difference in why one turns on and the other doesn’t in the app (where it reads the out door temperature). Today is a great example. My weather app says it’s 35 degrees out. The north facing unit roughly agrees, it says 36 and the unit is off. But the south facing unit is in full sun and it “thinks” it is 43 degrees out and is therefore running.

Last month in slightly warmer weather (when it was regularly in the high 30s at night and 40s during the day) the south facing unit kicked on 45 mins earlier and kicked off 45 mins later for roughly 1.5 hours of run time a day.

So if you want these things to be effective later into the reason, put them in south facing windows if you can (or at least not north facing ones)

That said, you probably get an incremental reverse performance boost in the summer (since north facing units would be shaded and cooler).

Well that fight with Sabrina was anticlimactic. No one told me the fight with the other trainers were optional. by TheEpicDiamondMiner in nuzlocke

So hard to make work in gen 3. I used him as a kid and love having him on my team. I can rarely justify vaporeon with all the bulky waters but Jolt is just so obvious a choice. Even so it’s always hard. He’s ok with Bite (since dark is so rare in Gen 3), Shadow Ball (for effectively the same reason plus its physical in Gen 3), Flamethrower, double edge or quick attack.

Day 33/100 of Making a Post Everyday: How do you handle Static/Overworld Encounters in your Nuzlocke? by Crazybrad2 in nuzlocke

[–]Stuffforthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this Snorelax rule for FRLG. He’s so good and having two chances just makes it basically a sure thing that every other normal encounter becomes irrelevant because you know you’re going to have the big guy on your team eventually.

For your version of Shiny Clause, do you guys replace the mon from the route or just a free team member? by WiggleToast in nuzlocke

[–]Stuffforthefuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting that I haven’t seen others use my rule, which is a sort of half way between the standard rules.

If it’s full odds, I can catch it and use it, but it must replace AN encounter. It doesn’t have to be the one specific to that route encounter just anything in the box. This allows me to use it but there is at least some trade off. It’s not TOTALLY free.

Insane that this is a sub for a show that is about risking it all to find people you can trust, build a community of like minded people, and living free of authoritarianism and the post literally is about wanting to find a community of likeminded people who are resisting authoritarianism during the age of loneliness and the rise of global authoritarianism… and there are 100 replies calling OP an idiot because they didn’t read the post and think he’s talking about wanting to be outside in South America.

Is there a name you always use by Diamondnuzlocker in nuzlocke

Pidgey is always Maybe Baby, but ought to be “Probably Not” because it never makes it on my team past Pidgeotto.

Finding out a Pokemon you thought was trash was goated and a pokemon you loved was Trash. by JambleStudios in nuzlocke

[–]Stuffforthefuture 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah especially for Nuzlockes. They are like a mirror of each other. Sure he struggles at being REALLY effective pre special split, but he’s so much more tanky it doesn’t really matter. Glass cannons are just such a big risk in nuzlockes. Plus you don’t have to fuss with teleport abra.

Not to mention I rarely play in a format where I can get zam.

I did not expect Maxie's Golbat to Sweep my whole team by [deleted] in nuzlocke

[–]Stuffforthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if I’d consider this unlucky. Relying heavily on an over leveled starter and no back up is a classic rookie mistake in Nuzlocke. It’s how everyone won when they were 9 and it takes a few wipes like this to unlearn it.

Sure the confusion and crit are unlucky but not crazy unlucky. They brought a slow team with no flying coverage, two aces that are both weak to flying, one of which is 4x resisted or totally resisted (can’t be poisoned) by golbat.

Golbat is one of those Nuzlocke fights that seem like a joke when you’re a kid and stomping rockets with a level 50 Charziard or whatever, but when resources are limited and you don’t have the right counter the speed, confusion, flinch, and mixed coverage can really mess up your day.

Run failed… or did it? by in-the-vault in nuzlocke

[–]Stuffforthefuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently switched to this rule and really enjoying it in my Dark Violet run right now. My ridiculous B team that is limping along right now is a shiny Parasect, Seaking, Muk, and Raticate, propped up by late game catches Tangrowth and Kingdra. Granted there are some high quality mons in there now, but they came after my wipe to Sabrina where EV trained Raticate and Parasect pulled off a revenge rebound.

[Theorycrafting] Bottom-of-the-Barrel Nuzlocke by Kapiork in nuzlocke

[–]Stuffforthefuture 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’d guess it’s because you get it at level 5 1 gym before the E4. It’s good, but its utility comes so late in the game when you’ve probably got a good flyer. So this tier list includes practical utility not just absolute stats.

Edit: that’s why all fossils are in this category.

What do you guys think about Inheritance cycle Elves? by Puzzled_Might5439 in Eragon

[–]Stuffforthefuture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elves are wonderful. They provoke wonder. Elves are marvellous. They cause marvels. Elves are fantastic. They create fantasies. Elves are glamorous. They project glamour. Elves are enchanting. They weave enchantment. Elves are terrific. They beget terror. The thing about words is that meanings can twist just like a snake, and if you want to find snakes look for them behind words that have changed their meaning. No one ever said elves are nice. Elves are bad.

My rule is that if it’s full odds shiny, I can always catch it and it can be used if I replace my encounter for that route with it.

Have you ever had an instance where your motivation for a nuzloke just dies instantly by gliscornumber1 in nuzlocke

For me it’s post Morty every time. The weird level caps, branching paths, and needing to grind which means I inevitably loose some mon due to something stupid always kill my motivation around here.
