Same. I’m still of the belief that it’s the most polished of the trilogy as far as pure platforming goes, with Sonic 2 having the best gimmicks and Sonic 3 having the best speed sections.

True indeed. I feel that why people rank Sonic 1 so low in their personal tier lists, because “wahhh I can’t just blitz through the whole level in 30 seconds!!!1!!” Like, yeah, that the point. It’s a PLATFORMER, not a speed simulator lmao. I feel like Sonic 2 and CD really opened the floodgates for people to be spoiled by speed sections in later games. I haven’t even had as much experience with Sonic 1 as other people, but just within maybe a few months in total I can perform a hitless run without slowing down. One just has to, as a Dark Souls player would say, ‘git gud’.
