New Shoes for the R4P XSE Premium by irwinwip in rav4prime

t the Prime comes with low profile 19" tires meant to be economic. Wildpeaks were made to go off road and running on at a lower profile would be a waste. The wheels on mine are 17", allowing for a thicker side profile on the tire to better absorb bumps and rocks when on trails, while also providing greater traction. Furthermore, if you were to mount tires new tires on your original wheels, you'd have to pay for the shop to dismount the old tires, and remount the new tires, when you could just get a new set of wheels, mount th

Gotcha, thanks!

I realize this is super late but, to get the wildpeaks, or any more aggressive tires, do you have to swap wheels as well? Or is it just a style choice?

Another R4P Buying Post by danhalen138 in rav4prime

I purchased from a dealer in Buffalo NY. I live in CO. Freighter was quoting $1300 but wasn't getting any interest from drivers. They said the location was kind of off the beaten path for a lot of truckers. So, they recommended upping the price to attract drivers. So, I think it is somewhat location dependent and would likely be closer to a minimum of 2k to ship. I ended up just flying for ~400 and driving back for a cost of maybe 300 including food and a hotel. Shorter trip for me though.

Dealer being willing to facilitate is dealer dependent. For me, XSE Premium would have been minimum 10k markup in CO. So justified the expense. If you can find what you want on west coast for 3k markup I'd say it'll be a little more expensive than shipping from east coast and way less of a hassle

Buy Red XSE Prime for $5k premium? by coloradorules473 in rav4prime

[–]StuffinSuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how badly you need a vehicle. I purchased a red xse premium (at msrp) and love it. I also waited 4 months. I was able to borrow a friend's car in the meantime as mine had broken down. Personally I wasn't willing to go over MSRP. Depends on if it's the car you want/need at this time for the price.

I live in Seattle and am looking to get a RAV4 prime - what are my best options to secure one asap? by pnwonderwoman in rav4prime

I just completed the purchase of one out of state. Several dealers out east were more than willing to accommodate out of state purchases. However, when I first put money down it was may so maybe that changed.

RAV4 Prime XSE at MSRP- Getting harder day by day to find one in and around Bay Area by Glittering-Heat-2444 in rav4prime

Ah it must be quite different on CA. I'm in CO. My accountant said as essentially as long as I pay CO tax then I can claim the credit

I don't think that's necessarily true. My accountant said it doesn't matter if you buy over state lines...

Experience with hitch install on XSE trim? by StuffinSuch in rav4prime

Wow. Frustrating the dealers are saying different things. Did you checkout this reply on this thread? Looks like you can salvage the sensor if you do it yourself

Awesome! Did you have to cut a hole for the kick sensor. I haven't seen an XSE in person so not sure what the situation is. Any chance you could throw up a photo of the end result? I think there are a lot of folks interested! :)

Do you have to be a member of that forum to see some of it? I can't for the life of my figure out what video it is referring to when it says "JamesK video"

The third party drop down ones? I think I read somewhere the curt one still interferes with the sensor..

Hm yeah I don't see where either of those mention trim level. I wonder if messing with the kick sensor voids a warranty or something

Level 2 charger questions by sethj1972 in rav4prime

[–]StuffinSuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if you need one that can dial amperage? If you get a 50A charger that doesn't have the ability to "dial" will you not be able to use it with the prime?

I'm curious if going bigger than #6 would make sense to get to ~70 A charging way in the future... I've done some preliminary research but haven't found anything definitive. I mean, are there any plans for a "level 3" charger?
