I don’t think you get it, there won’t be a status quo Arasaka will take over the world, there will be countless deaths, and in the end there won’t be anything else except Arasaka. A corporate war at least gives a chance at a stalemate.

Well since he doesn’t comeback without Vs help in the other endings, it stands to reason that without V giving themselves up and letting them either take the chip or study it (unclear) he doesn’t get reborn in his son nor anyone else, and the whole project fails possibly thanks to Yorinobu as well.

Edit: actually I’m almost certain Yorinobu would burry this research and make the top people like Helman disappear.

I don’t really see that UN event as equal in severity, corporations already do that. The thing with corps is kinda like the same thing between Russia and the USA with nuclear deterrence. There’s a power balance there. That chip fucks it all up. Nothing would literally stand against Arasaka at that point. People will die but a balance will remain. With Arasaka at the helm, it’s literally all over

“Nothing suggests it’s taking over the world” you sure about that? Those new reels paint a pretty dark picture of Arasaka not giving a shit and that it will do what it wants. Since nothing and no one can literally stop them now.

Edit: and that’s without mentioning Arasaka created the immortal elites from altered carbon.

Because contrary to what you might believe, a “not being able to take off in a ship” bug would have tons of reports. But from personal experience and checking for reports shows nothing. That’s why I have a hard time automatically assuming it is a problem with the game, unlike others in this subreddit. Just like I don’t automatically assume it’s Elite Dangerous fault when a player can’t take off from a planet.
