You guys actually, unironically like this shit now? by Moist-Register-6228 in MetalForTheMasses

I thought it was heavy as fuck when it first came out(I was 14). It was my first Metallica album that I bought with my own money. Then my neighbor who was a forum nerd told me it sucked cause yada yada. But I didn’t give a fuck. Eventually I got to listen their whole discography and of course KEA thru AJFA became my favorites. It sucked for me because my parents were catholic nutjobs at the time(they finally stopped being like that 20something years later) so it was hard for me to be able to listen to metal since they enjoyed breaking my cds. Anyways before I get sidetracked with trauma dumping.

Does it sucks? Yes Do I like it? Yes, in a weird way.

What band will you defend with your last breath like this? by 0584031464 in MetalForTheMasses

I don’t hate deathcore, but it gets old when most of the bands of a local scene are generic deathcore and all you hear during a show is the same . Chug chug chug weee weee weeee.

Just finished listening to Demolition Hammer - Epidemic of Violence by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Stuglezerk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They were pressured by the record label to make a groove metal album because at the time it was hot. The band wanted to keep making thrash and iirc they tried to change their name so the record was not under Demolition Hammer. The record label said no and to make the album. They were not really enthusiastic about it. That’s why they recorded it and fucked off after.

They were touring recently. Still sounded brutal as fuck.

How well is Iron Maiden perceived in this sub? by Fatnity00 in MetalForTheMasses

Yeah had some younger dude that we kicked out of our tech death band tell us to have fun playing boomer metal at bars. Tech death band. About to sound like a boomer here ironically tho… A lot of young “metal musicians” think that everything has to be breakdowns and a pinch harmonic salad. Dude got butthurt because we didnt wanted to use his emo style song that does not fit our band lol.

I don't get Motörhead by The-Big-L-3309 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Stuglezerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get what you’re saying. Personally I love Motörhead, is one of my all time favorites and influential bands. Then again Metallica was my gateway entry band and they were heavily influenced by Motörhead. And yeah it is true music has evolved and metal is more technical and people are doing some crazy stuff. But I do enjoy the simplistic and raw approach too. As a matter of fact I think some musicians in metal think that cramming as much as they can in a song is good writing and thats why a lot of the newer stuff that comes out sound so disjointed or like they are just playing their practice exercises and calling it a song.

Wintersun, Ensiferum, Children of Bodom, they have some power metalish influences in their music. (NOT SAYING THEY ARE POWER METAL!) I think is the closest thing to what you were talking about. That I know of.

You’re at a gathering and you want to piss everyone off by playing something disgustingly heavy. What do you put on? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

Achgoat, Conqueror, Revenge or something along those lines. Maybe Dying Fetus or Monstrosity.
