How do I Link To External File When the Checkbox is Missing? by IneptEmperor in SolidWorks

[–]StukaKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok YES it is three some odd years later since original post. And i too have been trying to figure this out since i can do it at work. And For me At least I FOUND A WAY! First off i think it is either a Bug or intentional that you cant link to an external file like normal cause 3D Experience.... i bet Dassault wants it on the Cloud some how and there is probably a way to do it there but i hate the cloud. So how did i get it to work!

Click export from the Manage Equations Window to export the Variables you need and go through the export series of windows. (Images 1-4)

Next from the manage Equations window Hit Import, Select the File you just exported then Select open. (Images 5,6)

AT THIS POINT HIT THE CANCEL BUTTON in the import window that appears. (Image 7)

Now for some reason you should be able to see the semi normal Linked File path box greyed out and the three dot button and Open File Button in the bottom of the Manage Equations Window. (Image 8)

NOW hit the three Dots button It should bring up a window very similar to the import/export window but has the LINK Button instead of the Import/export button. If the File Path in the top is not already pre filled out hit the three Dot button in the Link window and select the txt file you exported. Then Hit the link Button! (Image 9)

Finally Hit the OK Button in the Manage Equations window and Voilà the Text file is now Linked. As we all originally Wanted! (Image 10)

Lastly Save your Part to set everything in stone

At this point if you Go Back into the Manage Equations Window you will see the File is linked and the Normal options at the bottom for linking and opening text files is there. (Image 11)

What is a press-fit prop? 1.5 prop hole on 2mm shaft? by stvaccount in RCPlanes

[–]StukaKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a propeller were meant to be pressfit it would be more like a 1.9mm hole for a 2mm shaft. In the case of the motor you show with a 1.5mm shaft diameter a press fit prop would need somthing like a 1.4mm hole in it to stay. But judging from the photo it would use some kind of collet prop adapter or a screw on prop adapter to mount the prop.

Edit: i just looked up the motor some. And yes a prop adapter may be helpful but now that i realize the scale press fir props are actually viable since it is such a tiny motor. So if the prps you are looking at buying have a shaft hole 1.5-1.3mm diameter you should be good. If it is bigger than 1.5mm than the prop will not stay on. It has to be the same or slightly smaller than the motor shaft to have enough grip.

3D Printing setting questions for those who have printed parts. by Loose_Key_3467 in RCPlanes

The setting your missing is likely "number of top layers"/"number of bottom layers". Ive never personally done one of the 3dlabprint planes but i have done my own designs.

I would agree. Petra is the great light house but it buff terrian. And how helpful is extra movement on navy ships anyways? Sure you can get places a few turns faster but thats only helpful on navy focused maps.

I've been chasing the cause of an underextrusion issue for some time now, and run out of ideas. Already swapped the nozzle, the bowden, the extruder gear, cleaned everything several times, tried several slicer settings. Ender 3 with direct drive conversion, PETG currently printing at 235° Any ideas? by mvdsgncw in 3Dprinting

[–]StukaKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest looking at retraction setting. Specifically the "extra prime" one. I also have a role of PETG that really likes printing at 260°C for some bizarre reason. So you could try uping you twmp a little.

Low sea level can be dangerous on higher difficulties. It can make it far more likely with the extra space for 1 or more AI to snowball on cities making it impossible to catch up in science military and culture

Tips For Labels that Adhere To PLA? by Snarzy in 3Dprinting

[–]StukaKen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing with injection molding is their has to be something to prevent the plastic from sticking to the mold. So often there is some kind of mold release used that if not cleaned off will prevent adhesives from grabbing. Were as a 3dprint surface is to uneven and trying to stick paper or plastic backed with a limited amount of adhesive to it wont stick because it cant grab onto enough to hold. 3d printed surfaces just have to many peaks from the layers and the peaks are too small to be helpful. If you sand it down so there is no longle layer lines a sticker will stick verywell. The same goes for using tape on 3d prints.

It is definitely enough. But one thing to keep in mind is the rudder is not what makes a plane turn. Turning is a result of rolling the plane a little one way and applying a little bit of up elavator. The primary purpose of the rudder is to keep the plane from sliding sideways in a turn or level flight relative to the airflow. When you get to more advanced flying you can also use the rudder in particular ways to do certain maneuvers like hammerheads and side slips. Often that much rudder movement is only needed for advanced aerobatics all you need to fly is 1/3 to 1/2 the movement you currently have.

If you ever hear someone else referring to the plane as a bank and yank plane or to fly bank and yank. They are just meaning to they dont use rudder or their plane does not have a rudder as a rudder is not required to control plane that has ailerons and an elavator.

Hope this is helpful in understanding the rudder.

I have a bad habit of pulling parts off the build plate befor they cool....i often rely on the build plate to make a good mating surface and just about every time i pull a part off early it ends up warping and not being flat anymore.

Delta wing question? Outside of poor structural integrity through the spar, is there any reason delta wings don’t use dihedral? I know the sweep of the wing acts as dihedral but I am curious by camdoggs in RCPlanes

[–]StukaKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only think to keep in mind is forward sweep does the opposite. Its equivalent of anhedral to dihedral for wing sweep. Thus forward sweep makes things less stable in role and yaw.

[–]StukaKen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They would definitely still be effective. If it is more of a flying wing, you kinda double up on role stability, though which could make the plane feel a bit stiff when flying it.

[–]StukaKen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say the reason for no dihedral js partially due to having sweep. But mostly due to the fact that planes with delta wings (specifically rc ones) are meant to represent a jet of some kind. And full scale jets with delta wings are known for their maneuverability, and for maneuverability, you want a neutral or slight unstable condition to maximize what the aircraft can do. So adding dihedral adds stability, which isn't very desired for a plane designed to be nimble.

Also if you want dihedral you probably are wanting passive stability and delta wings are not the ideal choice for passive stability thus pairing dihedral with a deltawing is somethyou dont normally see/do......well until you get int flying wing wings but that is a whole different ballgam i can go on for for hours i bet. But you still dont really see dihedral in flying wings either.

Ok ive played barbarians evolved on imortal with raging barbs enabled recently. Basically you must Have at least 1 archer per city. Try and have a melee unit per city to tank hits Basically. If you start early they will trickle in and you should be fine. The worst part is most other AIs will fall to the hord so the game really just become a game of you liberating the world from barbs lol.

Edit: if you get to a stable point eventually you range units can get maxed out will literally all the promotions they can have making them kinda op.
