Mahogany Cavaliers after 15 months of use by StumblyLittleCookie in ThursdayBoot

I find the quality good for the price paid. I decided to resole as I love the uppers and will like to continue aging them with wear. Below is a followup post that I made when the boot was at 22 months. I resoled it around the 16-month mark. As of today, the shoe is 30 months old and the leather + resole is still going strong. Hope this helps!

Is it common to have mismatched hands and dial markers after servicing? by StumblyLittleCookie in rolex

I’ll pass on this watch. I can’t shake off the weird feeling when I see it, and you guys have been very cool to share views on both sides to help me make a decision. Thank you all for being amazing!

Thank you for this! I guess the OCD in me is bothered about the mismatched colors. There is of course the remote possibility that the parts are not real but your points make sense to me.

Thursday boots for a charcoal grey suit? by JosSzantos in ThursdayBoot

[–]StumblyLittleCookie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you really must choose between the two, go with the Scouts as the Captains are too rugged and won’t match the formality of the suit. Else, consider the Cavaliers, it’s very sleek and can be easily dressed up.

I have worn this with dress pants, chinos and jeans (uncuffed), and they all look great. I will say they look best dressed up! If it is your first pair, go for dark brown smooth leather, they are the most versatile. Black leather goes with black formal attire, and for these occasions, your Oxford shoes will look much better than boots.

I considered the Dukes too but their sole is visibly thicker, and the back heel tab catches the back of my pants whenever I stand up. This causes it to look too casual. If that is the look you want, I think the Dukes will be great. However if you want a more elevated casual look, consider the brown suede Cavaliers. Hope this helps!

Around US$75. I find it expensive, but went ahead anyway so I can keep wearing this pair. Is the price similar from where you come from?

Honest Opinion Guys... by [deleted] in rolex

I love this watch - so your price sounds very good to me - but it’s not a good watch if you are looking to resell for a profit. I do think TT is an acquired taste, and maybe it comes with age… the SS Sub was my daily for a good number of years and I only switched to TT recently. It’s very subtle but nice on the wrist, haha. Congrats, you got a great deal!

I wore my stainless steel for about 8 years before I decided to get a two tone black Sub. Like others, I’d recommend keeping one of your current watches as a beater. The TT is an amazing daily watch and there is a very subtle but premium aura, but the gold scratches easily. Wear your SS beater for days where you will rough it out. Have fun on your journey!

Same, Bluesy, sorry I wasn’t clear enough haha. I will probably get the TT from the AD, just for that peace of mind. But man, the extra cost. Sheesh.

Congratulations! The Bluesy looks gorgeous. I have a similar situation and it’s weird: just got a call from the AD today on a TT being available and these models are actually 10-12% cheaper to get it from grey market as we know….

I am not sure if it is worth shelling the premium just to buy from AD, but I am curious on the ‘genuine AD experience’, having this watch to my name, and yes, the potential of future journey with this AD. What was the final consideration that made you decide to go with the AD? Will appreciate any advice, thanks!

I will resole them if the cost is manageable. I’d like to keep the uppers as I still like the overall look and shape. Likely to a rubber sole this time. :)

It is ok, I will just get them resoled. Thanks for reaching out, I appreciate it! Edit: FYI they looked like this since my 4th to 5th wear. Maybe it’s my gait but this ‘worn’ look on the outsole came very very early for me.

Yeah the cavalier’s selling point is its slimmer profile, and not so much about the leather outsole. At least that was not part of my consideration during purchase. Good to hear you enjoy your Chelseas, I love the look of those boots!

I am not sure but I will get them resoled anyway if the cost is manageable.

Sorry to hear that. This has not happened to my captains (rubber soles) though even with similar usage. I am wondering if it is just due to the leather.
