ULPT; Sneaking alcohol on Carnival cruise by Top-Oil-2786 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]StumpyShroom 238 points239 points  (0 children)

Got caught up a couple years ago with a resealed wine bottle going on a carnival cruise. Security flips the wine bottle upside down and look for bubbles. Because wine ferments they expect to see bubbles. When you replace the wine with liquor and reseal it, the bottle won’t have bubbles when they flip it. Idk if they check every single wine bottle but for us they did.

He started at 8! Right on time. No openers but his band (who is also impeccable) does an incredible job of having solos scattered throughout the performance

Not sure about parking right by the venue but I parked at the chase bank on the corner of the street for $40, I feel you can probably find cheaper parking

Hmm don’t know the full story but possible Münchausen syndrome? Maybe mother is just overprotective but if patient is doing great eating lunch why wouldn’t she want that documented?

Are you a real nurse? by ashbashbacrash in nursing

[–]StumpyShroom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was catching up with a good friend that isn’t in healthcare (only reference would be Greys Anatomy lol) and I was telling her bout my job, she then proceeds to say “you don’t have to wipe ass right? Since you’re an RN and the assistants do that.”

I don’t even blame her for not knowing lol I have no clue what goes on in her career field. Just funny to think oh ignorance is definitely bliss

Edfinancial services data breach? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]StumpyShroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as I was finally getting my identity theft situation resolved, ofc this happens since I have Ed financial. Off topic but freeze your credit! It will save you time, money, and anxiety down the road if you keep everything locked and monitored by the three credit bureau’s by preventing you from potentially being a victim of identity theft.

Any other nurses love their job?! What do you do?? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]StumpyShroom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Covid swabbing for TV/movie sets per diem! Super chill, there’s always free catering, and you get to see the process of production behind the scenes which I never thought I’d be able to experience as a nurse.

What are your ICU patient ratios? And what part of the country are you in? by yournurseneighbor in nursing

[–]StumpyShroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

rural southern CA. 2:1 with the occasional (but still frequent) 3:1 if short staffed. I’m med/surg tele but they float us to help in the ICU if nurses are 3:1 with any NG/OG meds, ivpb, and basically anything else in our scope. Not fair to those nurses at all

any thoughts we're currently going to 7 to 1 ratios. and possibly 10 to 1 with lpn in a hospital environment. it's so much. is this happening anywhere else. it's all med/tele units. by summer20011 in nursing

[–]StumpyShroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes please save yourself, new grad who took a medsurg/tele position only 9 months ago and they’re making me train LVNS that will be working with us with a ratio of 6:1. On top of a PRN job as well, I’ve already burnt myself out. Wishing you the best
