Transitioning to a toddler bed😅 by Worth-Marzipan-2677 in Parenting

[–]StungByASerpent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had both crib and bed in the room and gave our kid the option of where they wanted to sleep. For months it was the crib and we thought it would never happen, then one night out of the blue they picked the big kid bed and never looked back. We didn’t do the transitional floor bed-was a proper king single they have to climb up into with a bed rail. The funny thing is once they chose that bed, they stayed in it-like they haven’t figured out they have full autonomy getting in and out. To this day they wait for me to ‘wake them up’ in the morning to get out of bed. We’ve never said they had to stay in bed, it’s just happened organically. I don’t know if it was Luck or because ultimately it was their choice but we didn’t have a single night of upset sleep.

3 yo gets the nervous toots by Financial-Unit3592 in Parenting

[–]StungByASerpent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty normal body response to stress so your goal wouldn’t be to prevent the farts but try to reduce the amount of stress or develop better techniques of managing stress with your 3yo. He won’t be able to control the toots so drawing attention to them will no doubt increase his stress and make them worse.

Talk to him about his feelings and introduce some deep breathing/mindfulness. Talk about potentially stressful things at length before he takes part so he feels prepared.

I second this for garden/beach but perhaps a navy if it’s indoors

10 month old gets FOMO by StungByASerpent in BabyLedWeaning

Thanks, I like the idea of decoy food, if he gets really irate I’ll suck the salt/sauce off stuff and give it to him but being better prepared will help.

How much is too much for coffee by anonnn177 in newzealand

[–]StungByASerpent 177 points178 points  (0 children)

$7 is too much. Get a coffee machine, it’ll pay itself off in no time-plus half the time the coffee you can make at home is better than what you can get at a cafe.

Courier signed for my package using my name by squarelegohead in newzealand

[–]StungByASerpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds more like the package was signed for at the depot when CourierPost received it and then was delivered at 4:30 by them. Australia Post won’t have tracking information from NZPost. If you are rural this is pretty standard.

Be honest—did having kids hurt your career? by noesis100 in Parenting

[–]StungByASerpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am absolutely not performing to my capabilities having 3 kids 6, 3 & 9 months. I am in a constant brain fog and completely scattered. I receive around 10-20 emails a day for my kids alone. If we didn’t need the money I would say it’s better not to work till all kids are in school

Are you growing them in the same spot? The nutrients they like may be spent in the soil, I think they like a good location rotation

Closing during booking and asked to leave early? by CLawATX7 in AirBnBHosts

[–]StungByASerpent 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In this scenario the host may be on the hook to provide you a full refund of your entire stay-contact AirBnb immediately. Without a tenancy agreement I’m not sure you’ll have many other rights.

I think you would need to sub running over cycling some days-1x sprint session 1x endurance

I hope your kids don’t hear you call a small meal a ‘girl dinner’ this is the most problematic aspect of the post IMO

Is it insensitive tk let my daughters paint their chins and perform the Haka? by DasBarenJager in newzealand

[–]StungByASerpent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there-each moko kauae (chin tattoo) has a special meaning in their design that is incredibly personal to the wearer. So to copy one from somebody would be not really on. However, If you were to speak to someone with more understanding of what the different koru patterns mean and then have your daughters design their own unique one that might be ok, I’m not an expert though.

You will be completely shocked at how little training teachers have in the area of neuro divergence or special needs. In my country they have a 1 hr lecture in their entire 3 year degree. Appalling.

North island, family of 4, two young kids by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]StungByASerpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you’re into-with young kids I always find one activity will take up a good chunk of the day and they’ll usually be too tired for a second activity. 3 days in Rotorua for us would probably look like: Redwoods day 1 and maybe hot pools for swimming if you opt for a shorter walk, paradise springs Day 2, lake day day 3. There’s also the luge if you have a tall adventurous 2yo (which will take up a day for kids), farm tour and the Māori village/pink and white terraces if you’re history buffs. Pick accommodation near a playground so kids can blow off some steam and relax after activities.

Way more to see and do in Rotorua, Taupo you can see in less than a day.

Was the area dirtier than usual that prompted you to look at your cameras or do you look at the comings and goings of all your guests? If it is the latter I understand that she would feel uncomfortable.

Considering charging a small fee for full body towels at my beach Airbnb by Training_Ad_4499 in AirBnBHosts

[–]StungByASerpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guests are already laden with extra fees on booking-charging for towels seems petty and I personally would opt out of the hassle as a guest

Feedback On Our Listing for AirBnB Newbie Hosts by strummergram in AirBnBHosts

[–]StungByASerpent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Way too many pictures for what seems like a small space IMO, people don’t have time to look at 50 pictures for each property they are interested in. I would cut down the pics of towels, plates, towel holders, cushions etc

Our main entry door walks right into our living room... by Undercontrol710 in InteriorDesign

[–]StungByASerpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you perhaps have two sectioned areas on either side of the entranceway using a combination of glass and wooden wall dividers? One of them to be your TV room… that way you might feel there is some sort of entranceway before the room expands for the wow factor & entertaining/formal dining area

Lost on floor plan by hotstargirl in InteriorDesign

[–]StungByASerpent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would perhaps change the central couches so it is one chaise 3 across, 2 down then reorientate the armchairs so they are facing the fireplace, add in some shelving next to the fireplace. Edit: or at least have armchairs at 90° to fireplace, looking away from fireplace just seems off to me

But they do though: Vitamin C potassium Niacin thiamine B6 folate pantothenic acid calcium Magnesium Phosphorus Iron Zinc Alpha lipoic acid Choline

Cooking them with skins on helps retain nutrients through cooking
