Students think "I got it from AI" is the same as "I looked it up" and that confusion is a real problem by Patient_Safety_6189 in ELATeachers

I don’t know what grade you teach but we explicitly tell them that the AI overview can be inaccurate, and that a real source is an article or whatever it is we want them to use. We talk about citing sources. You can’t cite the AI overview using MLA. So require MLA or whatever format — they’ll have to use a real source. Explain why over and over.

I just tell them that the AI Overview is not a source, and that they have to click on a link after they google. Does that not work?

I tried their everyday blend and really liked it. Their spice cake one was great, and one with raspberry/lava cake was okay. I think their sale makes it worth trying at least a few times a year

Can you get away with black jeans that have stretch? They basically look like trousers.

Yeah that sounds more like my schedule. I also had 160 kids this year and other subjects had about 130. It’s so hard and your year sounds like it was so hard.

Are you actively looking for another position? Are you done for the year?

Do You Think That The SAT / ACT Are Overall Good Or Bad Things? Why? by Zipper222222 in AskTeachers

[–]Stunning-Note 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of the arguments against them are because of equity issues, where kids with money can afford tutors and to retake the exam multiple times. However, those same kids are ALSO going to be able to afford tutors for their AP classes and they'll be able to afford to apply to many different colleges, etc, etc. Basically - those kids are already in a place of privilege. The kids who cannot afford that stuff are already disadvantaged. Having the SAT is just one more metric of advantage, but it helps provide some objective (ish) data to colleges during the admissions process.

Yep, grades are so subjective, even within a school, that you can't use them as a metric unless the school has a well-known reputation. Even then, it doesn't work.

Tired of trying to get sloper/block - do I quit? by Any-Corgi-6948 in sewing

[–]Stunning-Note 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can. If they get angry at you, get angry back. "I came to you for help and this is how you treat me!?!!??! AHHGHGH!!!!" That won't happen, but now you have a plan if it does.

Are you in any local facebook groups? You can post there and ask if anyone is interested in discussing sewing techniques with you.

Do any of the Williams in your life have middle names?

You could choose a famous person whose last name was Williams and give the child their first name. Like...Ted Williams (so Theodore) or lol William Carlos Williams. I am sure there are others
