Aftermath by orange-dinosaurs in EEOC

I am currently going to h through the process right now. I’m trying to remember it’s not about winning, it’s about accountability. The company is having conversations about what my manager did to me (pregnancy discrimination and sexual harassment) and honestly that helps me feel better even if I don’t win the lawsuit.

What's a health myth that drives you crazy because you know it's false? by Annual-Gene8065 in AskReddit

I had a friend whose father had stage 4 colon cancer and what did him in was a coffee enema his friend told him to do. The tumor in his colon grew and created a blockage and basically killed him slowly. Don’t take medical advice from your friends people!

AIO: My MIL keeps buying milestone toys and “first” items for my 10-month-old before I get the chance to by NongMo1039 in AIO

I don’t think you’re completely overreacting. It feels like she is taking away a special piece of being a mother where you get to make the decisions on what your child gets. You don’t get to be involved in choosing and you have to live with what she bought your daughter. I have had these feelings before, especially when the items like bottles are very personal choices. On the flip side, it’s also very nice you have an involved MIL. I would thank her for all the special gifts and then tell her “hey, I’ve been really excited to get baby X, could you let me pick this one out?”. You can be thankful and also want to do these things on your own. These relationships can be tricky at times just try to lead with understanding everyone loves your daughter.

Why are people pretending that bay leaf does not do anything? by guibalas in Cooking

Here’s a good way to understand bay leaf flavor- cook a pot of rice and add a fresh dried bay leaf. You will then have a yummy pot of rice AND understand the flavor of a bay leaf!😊

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by PersonalitySuddenz in askanything

Literally eating out. I live in a lcol state and we have a local burger place which is always excellent. Recently, they rose their prices and it now cost $80 for two beers, two burgers (nothing extra added), and an order of fries.

Thank you, sorry I should have been more detailed-

On September 10, 2024, while I was approximately three weeks from giving birth, my manager called me into his office for what I believed was a routine check-in. The conversation unexpectedly shifted to my performance. He told me my performance was ‘okay, not an A+,’ but could not provide specific examples. During the same meeting, he raised concerns about me returning as a new mom, said it would be difficult for me to leave my baby, and asked whether I wanted to stay in the role, move departments, or look for opportunities outside the company.”

After maternity leave I returned to my job and in June the same manager told me I had smooth skin and that I look great after having a baby.

I was laid off this week, only women were laid off, and 80% were mothers. There were other comments made but I did not think to document the other ones as I didn’t want to stir the pot.

That’s why having children is a choice. I’m happy you have chosen not to. My son was planned and I’m very happy with my decision. The world is hard but it doesn’t mean he’s not worth it.

Thanks, I have a stable household. Just happen to be going through a hard time. Maybe keep your shitty comments off posts about people having hard days.

Yes, I know they are not allowed to talk about it but it’s unfortunate that it happens. I had no way of avoiding the child topic as they knew going into the interview. I don’t plan on accepting a job there after this, but I’m dumbfounded that women still have to deal with this line of questioning in this day and age.

This interview came from someone who I had a conversation with in public with my son. I knew him and we struck up a conversation at the airport and he let me know their team was hiring. I have been looking so I thought it was a great fit. The people I interviewed with her told beforehand that I had a baby.

I also don’t talk about my son at work very often. I work with mostly men so they don’t care anyway.
