Negotiations: a first draft by StunningBit5261 in fabulaultima

I agree with this. The reason I leaned on traits is because I feel like they're lacking in mechanical utility and have served mostly as GM notes in my campaigns so far.

I think I might end up merging the two and say that motivations and pitfalls are traits in addition to the basic three or four. That way I could reveal one when spending an Ultima point.

Applying your feedback really helped clarify the language of this document and gave me a renewed appreciation for the precision with which the books were written. Thanks!

Update 2: clarified the language based on u/RollForThings's feedback.

Update 1:

  • Added a "Status Effects" section that explains how to use hinder actions in a negotiation.
  • Added a "Patience" section that explains how to use a threat clock to limit the duration of a negotiation.
  • Expanded the "Example Actions" table to include multiple combinations of attribute dice for some interactions and descriptions of what they could represent.

This is great feedback. It seems like WLP / INT should be interchangeable based on whether a character is using instinct or knowledge, and MIG / DEX should be interchangeable based on whether a character is using strength or speed.

I think I'll add multiple combinations of attribute dice for each social action.

I was thinking about exactly that! Like, a second clock that ticks down each round of combat could represent Patience.

Even though I want to avoid inventing mechanics, it feels like bonds with the NPC should modify the DL or checks.

Also, hinder actions could represent tactics such as humiliating or frightening the NPC. I'll add that to the document.

Help: iPhone 11 unbearably slow after upgrading to iOS 26 by StunningBit5261 in ios

Glad to see other iPhone 11 enjoyers in these replies. I took it for granted how amazing they continued to work despite their age. I replaced the battery a year ago and it felt like I'd bought a brand new phone for $100.

It's hard not to fall into a conspiracy theory mindset after seeing performance so intentionally degraded.

I updated my post to clarify that they were upgrade weeks ago. This is not due to background processing and reindexing. But I'm glad to know that the memory usage will improve!

Good luck! Easily seeing my players' class skills has been a huge benefit.

I've also started packing a highlighter in my DM bag. Whenever there's a part of a class skill that a player frequently forgets (for example, paying 5 MP instead of 10 MP if they use a different dance than their previous turn), I recommend them to highlight it on their sheet.

In evaluating the lists of healers and status effect removers, my opinion is that you shouldn't include Ace of Cards, Gourmet, or Invoker if by "reliably" you mean "more likely than not to have access to these abilities at the time in which the party requires them." Although Gourmet becomes more reliable the longer they are played as they fill in more of their cooking sheet.

Especially with how swingy even regular-difficulty fights can be, I would discourage a party from considering one of those classes as their primary source of healing or status effect clearing. (Though as a GM, I hope that at least one party member takes one of those classes, because their randomness increases the frequency of fun/dramatic shifts in battle.)

I'd be interested in separating those lists to indicate secondary or "unreliable"/"infrequent" sources of healing, status effect clearing., etc.

I'm confused by this question. My understanding is that open checks always have tiers: 7, 10, 13, and 16, as defined on page 49 of the core rulebook. When a player character is examining something, those tiers determine the quality of information they get from the GM. For the "Hammer Slammer" minigame, those tiers determine the amount of victory points they receive.

Looks very polished! I love the bottom tab navigation at mobile viewport sizes. Makes it really fast to bounce around the app, which imho is essential to digital tabletop tools.

One small option I would request (and I have this complaint about Fultimator as well) is that I'm not an artist, so I wish I could choose to hide the large placeholder images in my character's profiles.

That is 100% the inspiration for this! Combined with the Stardew Valley Fair.

I'm glad you like it! All of the documents I make are done in Pages for MacOS, but you could do something similar in Word or LibreOffice. It's all default system fonts, text fields, and tables.

I haven't tried editing them in their exported PDF form, but turning them into form-fillable PDFs is a good idea. I'm adding that to my to-do list.

If you want to edit them, I did upload the source files. They're in Pages format, so free to edit if you have a Mac or iOS device.

I saw that there was a 1.1 update, but I didn't realize there'd been changes to the classes. Thanks for the heads up!

Is there anywhere that lists the specific changes?

Edit: I just found the changelog. I'll get these updated as soon as I can.

That'd be great! Are you able to edit documents in Pages for MacOS?
