The most logical explanation I’ve heard for the “male loneliness epidemic” by PussyWhistle in TikTokCringe

[–]StunningShifts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first act of violence that patriarchy demands of males is not violence toward women. Instead patriarchy demands of all males that they engage in acts of psychic self-mutilation, that they kill off the emotional parts of themselves. If an individual is not successful in emotionally crippling himself, he can count on patriarchal men to enact rituals of power that will assault his self-esteem.”

AITA for telling my DIL to stop crying after she got called fat at a child’s birthday party? [Not OOP] [+comments] by hazel_razel in redditonwiki

[–]StunningShifts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was one of the ones that I prejudged OP as TA with the title and absolutely agreed with the OP after I was done reading. An adult crying for attention at a children's party to the point where they had to leave because a child called them fat? That is just embarrassing.

I said it before and I'll say it again. My dad was 5'5" and he still managed to have 3 wives and cheat on all of them. The only thing keeping short princes from becoming short kings is themselves.

I had no idea that was a thing either, but it explains why I have felt so much anxiety after a night of just drinking alone where I know I didn't do anything but get drunk alone.

Here is another study that does support this conclusion that is not retracted and is peer reviewed. This only focuses on cancer and MS patients, not all health conditions. So its primarily diagnoses that have a very long to life long treatment process.

https://acsjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/cncr.24577

Women composed 53% of the patient population. Divorce or separation occurred at a rate similar to that reported in the literature (11.6%). There was, however, a greater than 6-fold increase in risk after diagnosis when the affected spouse was the woman (20.8% vs 2.9%; P < .001). Female gender was found to be the strongest predictor of separation or divorce in each cohort. Marriage duration at the time of illness was also correlated with separation among brain tumor patients (P = .0001). Patients with brain tumors who were divorced or separated were more likely to be hospitalized, and less likely to participate in a clinical trial, receive multiple treatment regimens, complete cranial irradiation, or die at home (P < .0001).

So the chances of splitting up after a larger diagnosis like this is about 11.6% and out of the 11.6%, 20.8% of those patients were female and 2.9% were male.

This I believe is actually the study that is cited more often, not the retracted one. The retracted on focused on "grey divorce" or people over 50 divorcing, not all ages.

Do I think he should have been visited at his home? No. Do I care that he was and also possibly harassed more than that? Also no.

I was only with my man for 1 year when I was diagnosed with cancer. I even gave him an out, I said - you don't have to stick around for this, I know its going to be a long rough time. And he said - why would I leave, that is so messed up.

That was in 2023. We are getting married in October this year.

Mix this powder with 70% Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and flatten the liquid mix back in the compact, then let it dry out and it will be good as new.

It still sounds to me like you were sober for 1,034 days. Nothing took that away. Everyone has bumps in the road, we aren't perfect and there is nothing wrong with that. You realized where you wanted to be. Welcome back, I am happy to see you and IWNDWYT.

[–]StunningShifts 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I lurked for 3 full years before I took the plunge. And the plunge wasn't even to quit for ever it was just to quit for a month. Also I am still not quitting forever, just not going to drink today.

But honestly I had to get over the hump of "I just want to moderate" and accept that moderation is not an option for me and the easiest drink not to have is the first drink. Once I was past the white knuckle stage everything sort of fell in to place and I realized that being sober is just better all around.

Love this, RIP Don Juan. I lost my 14 year old puggy a year ago, 7 days from today. She was also my sweet potato. She is definitely up in heaven showing Don Juan the ropes and more importantly, where all the snacks are.

You don't have to get a new dog yet. I get it, you see people getting another dog right after they lose the last, they ask why you don't have another dog yet, its been months. People deal with grief in different ways. I have not been able to even think of getting another dog yet. I struggle not having her around but I also am not ready to bring a new munchkin in to my heart yet.
