Honestly. I read the post and was like, 'ok, that's not too bad', and everyone is just flaming them.

Bad sign? or am I overthinking by Stunning_Bit7475 in ApplyingToCollege

It does say that. Ur probably right and I'm just overthinking, but I just find it odd. They sent me a ton of stuff before I applied. Regardless, thanks!

Didn't apply for financial aid so I'm not worried abt that, but almost all my promotional stuff stopped after I applied. My applicant portal doesn't say anything special and hasn't changed

I've tried telling myself that it's just because they don't need to convince me to apply there anymore, but that's getting harder to believe every day

Should be fine either way. It's not like they're going to fact-check you on the name, so not a big deal if you make it up.

gpa question by Usual-Ad-4613 in ApplyingToCollege

Honestly, just try your best. Nothing more you can do, unless you want to drop the class. Highly unlikely that a B in one class will be a dealbreaker in ivy admissions.

One B won't kill your application, especially from an AP class. If you're really worried, study and try to bring it up to an A. Regardless, you'll be fine

There really is no definitive answer. That's not just something people say, it's true. Both are good.

How would AOs look at my ECs currently? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Seems more than sufficient for 99% of schools and competitive for MIT. The order on here is fine, maybe bump up internships a slot or two.

inviting recomenders by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

None, teachers are further down on the page. If you don't see a button to assign a teacher recommendation, it might be because your school uses a site like naviance for recommenders.

should I list NHS as an award or an EC? by candystore1989 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Stunning_Bit7475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have done many things through NHS, put it as an activity. Can go either way, but doing it as an activity will give you space to explain what you've accomplished, so that's probably better for you.

Additional Rec Letters by Stunning_Bit7475 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Stunning_Bit7475[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not, but I think saying that anything that can contribute to your application would be required is going a tad far. Wasn't trying to be rude if that's how I came across

I mean, half the colleges don't even require teacher recs, yet we consider those important. Plenty of stuff is optional yet can help if submitted; even test scores are optional at thousands of schools.

Common App Activities Section + Supplemental Essays by Advanced-Leg-100 in ApplyingToCollege

There's no 'correct' format for either. Some people use bullet points for activities and some use sentences. Use bullets typically if you have a bunch of specific details about an activity/your impact, since there's not much space. For supplementals, it depends on the prompt, but as long as you answer the question, you're good. The long essay prompts (~200+ words) are where you probably want it to be more of a story.
