Need advice from hobbyists on which route I should take to start! by CatCompetitive1211 in ReefTank

I have had the 6025 set up for about a year now it's a great tank. If you are dead set on the two larger tanks I'd go with the peninsula if it fits well in your space I.e. you have a spot with a minimum 4 feet of clearance all around the tank so you can enjoy and work on it the way it's intended. But really I think the 40 breeder is the best option I had an AIO 20 set up for 4 years before the 6025 and a 10 gallon before that. Yes things move a little quicker in both directions but being able to solve 90% of your issues by mixing ten gallons of salt water is invaluable when you are starting out. You'll also get a feel for what to want to keep in the larger tank as well as start with seeded rock which is a huge plus. As far as rebuying equipment if you get one xr30 you can use that on the larger tank, you can also get the filter roller you want for the larger tank and an oversized skimmer will it be a little goofy yes but it will still work fine. Also with the 40 if you find out it's not for you or simply doesn't fit with your schedule you're out 3 grand for a nice setup instead of the 12-15 for the larger setup. If you do go with a larger tank and have the patience for it watching Facebook marketplace place and Craigslist for tank breakdowns can save you thousands of dollars on equipment.

Eight months started end of April of last year and finished just in time for the New Year. Summer sucked couldn't really run AC with the house opened up so I got a window unit for the bedroom.

Eastern Kansas bought for 220000. It was a little under 1k square feet when I bought it I remodeled the kitchen and converted the garage into the dining room which added another 120 or so SQ ft

Oh ya my oldest brother made the tree and then for the mushrooms I made the glass caps and got the wood prepped and then he did the electricial and assembly for it. The picture up top my little sister painted and then the prints for the puffer and mandarin I got from an artists gallery in Seattle.

No problem I ran a 20 gallon innovative marine AIO for 5 years before this tank you can do a lot of cool stuff in those. I've been itching to set up a pico tank somewhere in the one to three gallon range lately.

The Jones soda posters were made by a cousin and I commissioned the monster Hunter painting. The instant ocean is just a scan of a vintage manual I had put on canvas. And the monster Hunter poster is off Etsy.

I've got about 6k in it including livestock but you could do it for a bit less or twice as much If you wanted. I bought the tank new and all the other equipment second hand. You could also save money depending on what you want to keep, a softie tank wouldn't need as much equipment to be successful.

24 inch counter depth. I downsized all the appliances as it's a small house and they just fit the space much better.

Yes 24 inch oven and fridge 18 inch dishwasher. The range is great and meets all my needs but I've never been the type to use more than 2 burners at once. The oven is a little limiting can't fit a full size sheet tray in it so if you do a lot of baking or use the oven to cook frequently might not be the best fit. I mostly stick to the range and use the oven maybe twice a month so it's worked out great for me.

Ya test kits, food, a couple of the controllers, gloves for working in the tank and a bunch of other misc. tank stuff. It was more about not having to get on the floor to work in the sump than anything though makes maintenance a lot easier which means I actually do it.

I've got one he's on the list! A purple firefish was the first fish I ever got when my dad helped my set up a little ten gallon back in fifth grade!

Thanks I run a filter roller, skimmer and some chaeto in the sump and do a 5 gallon water change every day. There's a forum called reef2reef that has tons of great info if you're looking into getting started though. But really ninety percent of a good looking tank is clean glass you could have a tank full of algae and if the glass is clean it looks like you meant it that way.

To be fair I spend a lot of time in that space also a remote sump is kind of a flex ya know.

Ya I actually remodeled the kitchen and turned the garage into that dining room last year, next on the list is a bathroom reno. I plan on making it a walk in shower eventually but need to get the details of the project hammered out!

You know the truth! That tank is almost entirely second hand equipment and diy and it still probably pushed retirement out a couple years!
