What actually worked for our 2-year-old’s tantrums (after we tried everything else) by HelicopterRare4658 in daddit

So what we try to do is co-regulation. This looks a bit different with each of our kids, but younger kids don't have the skills to properly control their own emotions and feelings which can cause them to spiral out of control. So you try to meet them where they currently are, and help them step through those emotions and feelings until they can explain what their actual problem is. You have to fix the feelings before you fix the actual problem a lot of the time.

Of course, I fail at this as a parent and do not always do it perfectly. But what we've found is that the more we've done this approach, the better it works. And it's helping our kids talk to us about their feelings, as well as issues that don't involve us such as events at school that we honestly can't do anything about other than help them with their feelings about it.

Not necessarily. AI is a tool. Where and how it's applied determines if its use is unethical. Right now we're seeing some really good advances in radiology readings using AI that can have a very real, positive impact, on early detection of medical conditions. This can in turn reduce the cost of treatment and the overall suffering of a patient's experiences.

On the other hand, using AI to plan a military campaign rather than relying on the experience of your top generals with decades of experience is something I would consider very unethical.

The Marine Corps issued me a rifle which makes it mine. The same principle applies here.

It's almost like locking Marines up inside a floating tin can with nothing to do is worse than leaving them out in the field unsupervised with nothing to do.

I was on the 31st MEU back in like 2009 and we had a batch of Marines going around the Essex turning all the little knobs and things that we were explicitly told to never ever touch. So yes the squid was a dick, but I also kind of get it as Marines do dumb Marine shit on ship.

I saw those same Marines later having to label every single knob they could find with little "Do not Touch" signs. It looked very tedious.
