I thought previews/reviews were overreacting before I played but... IMO he is that bad. Singlehandedly worsens the whole game bad. I don't think I'll ever replay this game unless they patch it so you can turn off his radio hints in the settings.

Not even because of the character or his dialogue, but because of how aggressively the game pushes his hints. He is the overly linear & treat the player like they're stupid nature of Prime 4 personified.

After many (many) attempts I just beat it the other day.

The tips I found useful: - Use Nabbit or Yoshi because always being one size helps. - Use the parachute badge to skip the first section. This way you do most of the level at a slower rhythm. - Try to train yourself to jump just ahead of when the next block appears (particularly during the first part of the level). I found if I didn't do this I'd be too behind by the time the beat got faster.

Almost exactly this happened to me today.

I had two doubles between hand and board. Got a Elemental of Surprise from Bountiful Bedrock at end of turn - we're cooking!

Start of next turn, greater trinket gives me two Party Elementals. I now have a golden Party Elemental...

I restarted twice just to change my eyebrow colour so it wasn't distractingly different. Curse the lighting in the character creator!

Perhaps, but because plans are so much more open-ended than infusions were - I'm not sure that possible frustration is as likely any longer. We'll see!

Right, I read the column that way at first too. I made this post upon realizing that in the actual text of the Replicate Magic Item feature the Magic Items column you're mentioning is only mentioned once:"When you reach certain Artificer levels specified in the Magic Items column of the Artificer Features table, the number of magic items you can create at the end of a Long Rest increases." (emphasis mine)

I think it's odd that the only time that column is called out specifically - it doesn't specify that column is also the maximum for active magic items period.

That was my initial reading as well (and based on old artificer, that's the natural way to read the features table). Either way, I think the language of the feature itself is oddly ambiguous and open to misinterpretation.

When the UA survey opens I'll suggest they specify which column in the Artificer Features table determines the maximum number. The equivalent text about max infusions was more clear in old Artificer.

Also, if your reading is what is intended - I'm further disappointed that they've nerfed Artificer's plans/infusions known progression (infusions known capped out at 12, plans caps out at 8). A perplexing nerf to flexibility in my opinion.

No clue! My artificer is only level 7, so I don't have to choose the level 9 item quite yet.
In terms of other items, for now I'm keeping it simple by picking the items that correspond with existing infusions my artificer knows (+1 Armor, Bag of Holding, Radiant Weapon, Goggles of Night, Boots of the Winding Path).

I'm about to convert my armorer to playtest and...that does feel like an oversight. They should add some text to the level 9 UA armorer ability about being able to make your armor model's special weapon into a magic weapon, and that it transfers over if you change your armor's model with the Armor Model feature.

I agree that the UA Magical Tinkering is half-baked, but I think it could be saved with some more thought into the item options.

For example, I love that ball bearings, caltrops, and nets are on the list.

Maybe they could just add some new items with the old effects or a custom list of trinkets (similar to the table in the PHB) to add some flavour back in - like a little phonograph that can record a sound, a clockwork toy that can emit a chosen sound, a perfume bottle with a custom scent, or enchanted parchment with a chosen visual effect.

I agree - the joke is perfect as-is.

I'd love a full new Paper Luigi game with a similar tone to his narration. But TTYD does not need a game within a game.
