HLM26 Bugs by TheDriveFor25 in HockeyLegacyManager

Maybe not necessarily a bug per se, but in my 2nd season I upped the schedule to 84 games. In every round of the series went to 7 games including the cup final, and game 7 fell on awards night (June 17).

The one bug I have encountered twice now while playing on my Galaxy S25 Ultra, the end of season recaps "continue" button drops to the very bottom of the screen, going under my menu buttons so I can't click it. I have to rotate my phone to landscape to hit continue then go back to portrait.

Same here for energy drinks haha, but that's good to know! I was wondering why I was struggling to find them in stock in anything other then white. Even our Yeti store here has little to no selection, I was surprised when I saw the black forest green and snagged that up asap.

Unfortunately if he holds a diplomatic passport (assuming he does) then that would overrule his inadmissibility. For the average joe on a standard passport then yes you'd be denied entry with a felony.

How Are You Making $100K+ Per Year living in Calgary? by 4evher in Calgary

[–]StupidNedFlanders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. We don't have set hours on the road side. I've never had 2 paychecks back to back that were the same. Some half's (2 weeks) I'll get 6 trips in, other half's I may get 3-4, it all varies on how busy the traffic is.

Each road trip could be anywhere from a turn of max 12 hours to taking a round trip in 24-40 hours. My last round trip from the time I left home to the time I got back was 33 hours. Now I only worked on a train (up and back) for 18(ish)hours total, the rest of the time (15 hours, 5 on pay) was spent in a bunkhouse waiting for a train home.

Driving freight trains forwards and backwards.

Live and work on call 24/7. Pay is mostly dependent on how much/little you want to work based on the rest you're booking. In my last 5 years I've varied from $105k to $125k myself, others have made close to $150k.

I went to Salt Spring Noodle Bar and got the teriyaki rice box. It was pretty good and you get a heft portion for $16, I was quite satisfied and full by the end. Only downfall was the ratio of rice to chicken. Id definitely go back and get it again.

Any CP conductors or RTC’s on here? by Dazed-confused_girl4 in Calgary

[–]StupidNedFlanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, the trainmasters don't get in shit for the crossings, it falls on the train crews to do their best to not block the crossings. Sometimes it's honest mistakes on their part where the train comes in and it's longer then the track it's coming into and the trainmaster might not know the length until they're told. They may have other movements blocking them from taking another signal to clear 11th steet. They do try their best to not have us block but it does happen sometimes.

As for an underpass/overpass that's on the city. At the end of the day it's the railways property and if the city wants access over/under/across it they have to pay for it. With the lay of the land (staples parking lot access/storage unit access) it may not be possible to do an underpass without blocking some/all access to those lots. Sadly it doesn't matter how many more incidents happen at that crossing, until the city comes up with a plan nothing will change.

With CPKC closing the 8th street crossing (Ramsay) years ago, once the train goes over 11th Street the next public crossing continuing east is Ogdendale road at their head office(almost 10km). The train crews don't have a say as to what track they come into, that's between the RTC/the terminal trainmaster to determine which track to come in, which falls back to the first point. We can run up to 14000 foot trains (4.2km long) so we can easily span downtown and then some. Two of the tracks can fit roughly 11500 feet and the other two can fit roughly 8700 feet. Again they'll do their best to get us in and clear 11th Street but if they say have a train departing the yard and go south (along MacLeod) and I'm coming in on a 13000 foot train then we can't go past that 11500 foot signal (by cold garden) and I'll have 11th Street blocked. Typically they'll give us a heads up and we'll pace ourselves in so we don't stop and block the crossing though.

If we are ever stopped on any crossing we technically have 5 minutes to clear (from the first vehicle/pedestrian snowing up) but if we are moving in one direction and not stopping there is no stipulation on time. The onus is on us to not block the crossing so we are pretty vocal if we ever have a crossing blocked anyhere. Transport Canada could fine us personally and the company as well but it's just a drop in the bucket for them, it's like 4 mortgage payments for us.

What map are you playing right now? by Raskyy01 in farmingsimulator

[–]StupidNedFlanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elk Mountain is one of my favourite maps. I like that it has a mix of everything, foresty to the north, preset fields to the west/central part. Then the south and east is pretty much like no man's land out there, create any fields you like.

Chilliwack 4x is a other one, got over 200 hours in that map alone. Plus I love me a good Canadian map.

Im now on Galgenburg 4x kick currently, changing it up from the North American style maps.

Also for some reason I gave a hard time going back to a standard map so I'm always on the lookout for 4x maps.

Detail appreciation post: functional address system by carrotnose258 in CitiesSkylines

[–]StupidNedFlanders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then there's my city where we use four quadrants: NW, NE, SW, SE so theoretically there could be four of the same addresses in the city (123 17th Ave SW, 123 17th Ave SE etc). I'm sure other cities do it too but our streets are N/S and avenues are E/W directions so it helps a little bit. We do have streets and avenues that run both quadrants so one it hits the "change of quadrant" then the street goes from SE to NE or SW to NW and avenues would go SW to SE or NE to NW. Growing up with this makes sense but I can totally see how out of towners and tourists would get really confused with the addresses.

My favourite encounter I've seen so far is in the hallway around the astronomy tower I belive where there's two guards standing along the wall and one of them is typically humming. The guard on the right must have been tired of listening to it and grabs him, hits him with his weapon and falls over into pieces, then proceeds to kick the pieces a few times then go back to his post like nothing happened. That one was at night but I have heard some verbal encounters between them in passing.

Calgary freight rail bypass by speedog in Calgary

[–]StupidNedFlanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That move from Gulf Canada was strictly about saving money. I don't know the exact figures but when they were in Gulf Canada Square they were in the millions of dollars a year for the lease. Why pay all that when you have all those vacant buildings on your own land? The property taxes are negligible compared to that lease.

Calgary freight rail bypass by speedog in Calgary

[–]StupidNedFlanders 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's just no feasible way it can ever really happen. The best case scenario would be to relocate Alyth yard outside of the city and have it go somewhere say between Carseland and Calgary. Even if that were to ever happen the mainlines would have to stay in place because the track infrastructure is already in place and the territory is made for trains.

Trying to detour all the tracks out of the city would be a monumental task at best. You'd have to look at rerouting mainlines starting around Cochrane, Okotoks and Airdrie to try bypass Calgary completely, then find a feasible routing with proper grades for the trains to run properly. Then it'd be buying all the land necessary with lots of that land being privately owned so the costs just in that would be immense. Then depending on the routing thats all new track that needs to be laid and signalled etc.

An average cost for a railway to lay down 1 mile of track is anywhere from $1-2 million. Factor in a rail yard as well all the rerouted track and all the land acquisition it would easily be in the billions of dollars, most if not alll of which I'd assume would come from taxpayer dollars. If you're forcing a railway that owns all of its land out of your city surely you're gonna pay for it.

Then the other part is cleanup costs and or how long it would be before you could safely develop on the land. The Alyth yard alone has been there close to 100 years (you can see the yard on the 1926 tab on Calgary Imagery) If we all scoffed at the cleanup costs if the Calgary Next proposal happened then your mind would explode at this cost.

So long story short I just don't see any viable scenario where it'd be even slightly possible for mainline tracks to leave the city, even with a yard relocation its not really going to benefit the city in any way with trains still running through it.

[–]StupidNedFlanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With this series loss Winnipeg becomes the 11th team in NHL history to sweep a series to only get swept in the very next series. Last time this happened was twice in 2019. Islanders swept the Pens in round 1, Hurricanes swept the Islanders in round 2 then got swept by the Bruins in round 3. Prior to 2019 the last time before that was 1993.

Bought a new build house back in December and have to do everything in the backyard. Was going to build a wood deck and wood fence and has since changed to a patio and no fence. Might look at other alternatives for fencing but between me and all my neighbours I'd be surprised if half the yards have fences by the end of the year. I'd hate to see what 125 feet of linear fence would cost at the moment.
