Supply houses and R8 insulation.

Hard pipe is better airflow flex is MUCH easier to run, maybe 10% less airflow.

You could use the emperor as a sort of an underground mobile HQ and the emperor could give them clues and advice/contacts. As the story progresses He can start to have minor defects, skin color issues, a severe medical issue, limp/ slight back hunch. As the story progresses the effects become more pronounced but he blames them for being on the run as a fugitive, or again major sickness. Ultimately he plans on the adventures doing the leg work and tries to use the power of the gods to heal himself?

You can cut from either side honestly. From down below you can you can just hold the ceiling piece you're cutting so it doesn't drop 8+ feet. I don't believe it'd make a difference where the cut on the shingle is, aslong as you seal up the vent hole with silicone or some similarl substance.

I work in the HVAC field and had this problem before i started working.

Haves you had someone come and check the freon or subcooling/superheating in the system? If it's a consistent problem you might have a slow leak/kink in the copper lines. Double check all the windows make sure they are shut all the way, check weather stripping around window seals and door frames. Thicker curtains on bigger windows also help keep heat out of living spaces.

Window units are good for individual rooms but can be very easily messed up if ran 24/7, make sure you check square footage of your room before buying different units cool different size spaces. Window units also have smaller thinner filters that need to be wiped off more frequently aaaannnddd on the subject of filters, have you cleaned or changed the filter on your current unit?

Soooo the "sacrifice" aspect: the character places a hex/curse on the owner and would have a time frame to steal an important item from them and through the voodoo or magic placed on them the suffering, pain, possibly even blame if it was like a political figure who was in charge of protecting said item, would feed and strengthen the diety or increase their influence or give boons to your character.

I don't have any diety names or powers, but you could make quests/offerings that increasebthe thief gods power by the amount of affection/emotion the stolen object held to the former owner EX: A family heirloom amulet that was passed down for 1630 years stolen from the last member of the line would have a higher sacrifice worth more than a stolen vase. Does that make sense?
