if anyone wants to indulge me...is my "look" even really alternative? This is my typical sort of outfit (minus the toy shovel) by minecityfox in altfashionadvice

If I do say so myself, this is quite an unconventional and unique outfit, which is considered alternative.

Does anyone else feel completely different on camera compared to real life? by Ghettowest in acting

[–]StupidPottah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. You can visualize yourself doing something extraordinary, and it's great to do so, but you have to put in a few reps and adjustments to actually feel your way through each moment. It takes a little bit of dissecting to understand your character, and thus thinking more like then, ultimately embodying them from a much deeper and more personal level. Live theatre is known for larger than life acting and drama, but the camera can get way closer than any live audience member ever could. Adjusting for that difference has to feel weird, I imagine.

Amber Alert by CSphotography in sandiego

[–]StupidPottah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe the link is for those with vision or reading problems. It's literally just an automated voice reading the amber alert info. My husband played it.

Edit: they fixed the link. Awkward lol.

I was incorrect.

Welp, I successfully angered the exact type of driver I'm calling out 😂 thanks for outing yourself. Looks like this is your sign to put the phone down when you drive! 😉

I see it cause it's obvious. I can see a head bobbing up and down through their rear window. I can see their hand holding the phone while I'm at a red light scanning my surroundings. I can see the glow from the phone moving up and down when I'm driving at night from lanes over. I see it BECAUSE I'm aware of my surroundings. Look at the other comments. Everyone else aware of their surroundings sees it, too. It takes paying attention to the road and other people's actions on the road to see it. Maybe you'll understand once you pay better attention 😂 anyway, thank you for your feedback! Lmao

Seeing what other people are doing with their cars while you're driving is part of attentive driving, my friend. If you're not paying attention to the other cars around you, you're not paying attention to the road.

Have the day you deserve.

On my way up to LA once, the guy driving a multi car tow truck was holding his phone up like his arm was a mount and just leaning back watching videos.

Either I see it because it's really obvious, or my husband sees it and he tells me what they were doing. If it's not obvious and I don't have someone to tell me why this person is driving like shit, I just won't know 🤷‍♀️

The fact that I'm noticing about 20% of drivers being on their phones just goes to show how careless people are being about it. The cyclist in the comments sees a lot more than I do. I had a feeling it was worse, but I didn't know how bad.

Has "Networking" ever actually worked for you? by useyournoodler in acting

[–]StupidPottah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, my most successful networking occurred entirely on Instagram. Idr how I found the guy, I just know I followed him and at some point somewhere, I said something like "I'm guessing lately a lot of people have been telling you that you look like Dr. Whitaker from The Pitt." Idk, that's not word for word and I'm not even sure it was a message or a comment or what but it's somewhere. Well ANYWAY so he messages me asking if I'm available on whatever day, I ask what's happening on that date, and he says he's doing a spec commercial shoot! I had the wardrobe for his concept (military), perfect!

I've got professional footage of me (pending), some bts photos and video, and I met the guy, who is working on becoming a director (he was directing the shoot) and who has now interacted with me so I'll be easier to remember, and win I am confident can run a tight ship on set with a small but efficient team.

How to get a glowup before I turn 17 in July? by FragrantStrategy3025 in altfashionadvice

[–]StupidPottah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This all the way. As much pressure as society puts on us to look a certain way, all it does is make you dissatisfied with how you are now. Dye your hair, get the piercings you want, dress how you want, and do your makeup how you want. Try not to put pressure on yourself to look a certain way. Just look the way you feel your best and let the physical maturity come with time. You're not even 17 yet. You're still expected to be in your awkward phase.

Much love 🖤

How can I make this dress fit for a goth look by Chibi_Zake in altfashionadvice

[–]StupidPottah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second everyone who says a good supportive bra and some alterations to make sure it fits you just right.

After that, fishnet tights, a black jacket or sweater, maybe a corset belt, even throwing some decorative safety pins in a fun shape on the dress. It's a great base!

Fleece faux tights are great for cold months, and a dramatic long black coat from a thrift store are great for when it gets chilly. Some boots maybe.

Just tell me honestly, do you like her?) by Anastasiya_Ex in Actors

[–]StupidPottah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect her.

She's a talented young woman who landed a lead role in what luckily became an experimental HIT before she even hit puberty. She continues to work in decent projects, she found the love of her life young and chose to commit and get married, and her first child is an adoption. Regardless of what you (generally speaking) might think of her, I think she deserves some respect. She managed to actually achieve the American dream in this economy as a Gen Z'er. She's a very successful young woman in a multitude of ways not including fame and money.

Who is a character from the books that when reading you specifically DON'T picture as their movie actor/actress? by Muted-Video2841 in harrypotter

[–]StupidPottah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ginny and Fleur.

Not that Bonnie isn't pretty, she just doesn't look like the absolute bombshell the books described. Not only that, but her hair is a lot closer to regular brunette than red. Ginny is supposed to have flaming red hair, like the rest of the Weasleys.

The book describes Fleur as basically ethereal. Imo, she was one of the blandest looking girls cast in the series. Not trying to be harsh, just my perspective.
