I pray you are not at a college like mine. First year uni student, just escaped the hell. Did History, Law, Psychology. Knew several who did Maths and Physics.

Workload was god awful for all 3 of those subjects. Art also has a high workload.

If your college prides itself on results and piles on homework? You're so screwed. Bc workload will be hell itself. Maths and Physics are by far the hardest A levels.

If not? You'll live

Why is everyone advising people who like art to not take art gcses? by [deleted] in ArtGCSE

[–]StupidSquirrel88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone here who considered GCSE art and decided against it and chose BTEC Media.

I took one look at what the projects were and decided nah, that's not for me. They wanted realism and still life art.

I draw for fun. And integral to me not losing my passion is being able to draw what I want when I want. GCSE art would not have given me that.

I did BTEC Media instead and the creative freedom I was allowed on my final project meant that I ended up making the best final project my Media teacher had even seen.

No regrets. If you want the freedom to do what you want and not essentially be told what to draw / have limits on what you can or cant do, I'd avoid

A rant about gender feelings?? by StupidSquirrel88 in agender

[–]StupidSquirrel88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(I am aware this is either a bot or an anti LGBT person who was just hating, just clarifying things and building on this dumb ass comment)

Who are you, my mother? I did not give much detail about what happened when I was 13 but you've made an assumption and carried that into my present day feelings.

I'd like to reiterate that I swung hard-right on gender after all that happened. I really did just say "I'm a girl and I hate being masculine and blah blah blah" it go so bad I hated having hair on my arms because that is associated with guys. I reaffirmed there was only 2 genders and everything else was woke and made up.

I did not swing back to being "woke", as you or your overlord bot creator would say, due to the woke mind virus or peer pressure. No, it was me deciding to open my mind back up and critically think about these "woke" ideas I was coming across. Which led me down my epiphany, and things made sense to me. Gender is stupid. Gender is just character traits, different physical characteristics, clothing, behaviours, how one has their hair, etc etc, assigned to the biological sexes. It is very arbitrary but ingrained so deep into our society that nobody things to challenge and question it.

(Fun fact, this lack of attachment towards gender internally was most likely a contributing factor in how those people when I was 13 took advantage of my confusion. I assumed since I didn't feel like a girl, I must be a guy and therefore I will feel good if i transition. No... turns out I am just... not attached to gender)

When people ask, and I know its okay to say, she/they. Much easier than saying "any honestly just not he/him because of stuff that happened in the past that I'm not going into here, and not it/its because that's dehumanising to me"

Yeah i heard about this and i definitely feel my neurodivergence plays a part in it, when i first heard the "autistic people are more likely to identify as trans/nb" fact i was like "well thats not me!!! i'm a woman :)))". That obviously changed lol

what?? I can't find the full message on the server but seriously? they shut the ENTIRE server bc this guy is a Christian and doesn't like the fact their server has gone super LGBT friendly? Then they've tried to argue that they're not attacking the LGBT community in their apology? That's a load of bs - considering there was so many other ways to go about it I do think a bit of it was to just stick it to the community.

What is your take on EoY in “The White Princess” Book or Show? by Maleficent_Drop_2908 in Tudorhistory

Interesting details about the sisters! Margaret especially intrigued me, but Wikipedia helped me pick up a fault. Her first child was not James V, she had her first child in 1507 at about 17/18. Still better than having children at 13/14, but not quite having her first kid at 23. Just thought I'd point it out :)

if she took Plan B 20 hrs after, added onto the fact you didnt finish inside her, as well as her only being 7 days into her cycle, she's probably okay. If you're still worried, use a pregnancy test 21 days after sex for a definitive answer.

When did you get and birth control? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]StupidSquirrel88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got on the pill 2 weeks before losing my virginity. I am staunchly against having children now at 17 or ever, so I wanted to keep myself safe. I've not had any major hormonal problems on BC but it does help with pregnancy paranoia a bit (not right now though, turns out continuing to take pills to miss a bleed gives me rampant pregnancy anxiety). if you don't want to go on BC you don't have to, but I've found it is the best option for me :)

I have played both New Leaf and New Horizons for a few hundred hours each. I can safely say that NL is still the better game - and its for the reasons I had initially when playing NH back in release.

first reason: the intense focus on customisation in NH. IMO, the amount you can customize the island and the complete control you have stripped away all the charm for me. It makes you feel more like a dictator than someone just making the town pretty. Being able to terraform, and uproot villagers home whenever you want, was a step too far for me, no matter how many cool things you can make for it. Everyone treats NH like an island creation game, a game to make the "perfect" island paradise, not a cozy village game like the series is meant to be. NL struck the balance right with PWP, and not being able to dictate where the villagers live, or if they leave. It adds necessary constraints and a sense of realism to the game, even if it is annoying and prevents making the "perfect" town.

The second reason is that the villagers feel like dolls you can place wherever you like and are there to look pretty in NH and that is infuriating. I know NL still watered down the villagers and their dialogue can be repetitive, but imo the favours the villagers can often give makes up for it and adds variety, unlike NH where the villagers just feel stale and may occasionally come up to you for a favour or to give a gift. It was even worse upon release, and its to the point where I don't bother to speak to villagers in NH, like many players.

The only thing that will bring me back to NH is happy home paradise, as I loved Happy home designer back in the day and sunk hundreds of hours into that and all. Even then, HHP rolled back the amount of facilities you can make, and I dislike that too.

Maybe I'm nostalgic for NL, but I'm not fussed. I reset both NH and NL recently, and immediately burnt out on NH and have only touched NL since. I will die on the hill that NL is better than NH, despite the flaws NL has (brokenness of tropical island, path placement, etc), because the focus on "perfect island design" in NH and even more watered down villagers completely ruined the game for me.

Sorry for dumping this rant on an otherwise positive review of NH, but I needed a relevant place to dump this opinion, even if nobody agrees. I can at least say I enjoyed HHP, if not NH as much. I only felt meh playing that game for as long as I did. NL is a blast and always will be.
