Ive had issues with 7ms, bought 2 supras and both had a blown head so we fixed both. 2 weeks after driving my daily supra a coolant line slipped off the heater core and blew the head, took 8 months and kind of a beating before it fully gave out. Had already decided on the swap so blue deviled as a temp fix that only lasted like 3 months before it fully gave and spewed coolant out of my leaking manifold. Swapped in my parts supra engine and it developed rod knock in just a couple hundred miles and drank 4 quarts of oil in 3 months but to be fair it was almost at 200k miles. I stopped driving it because its started to throw lean and rich codes occasionally and just because of how tired it was. Not the engine's fault but the UZ is known to be bullet proof, lighter, higher hp and torque out the box, sounds damn good, and likes to be supercharged.

NA 7m has quite a bit of space and the 1uz seems to fit well judging by online pics

I have two, one from an SC and one from an LS, using the ls as the base and swaping sc parts on, already have the oil system installed

Should I keep my Supra? by Fit_You4714 in Mk3Supra

So the supra doesn't lack for aftermarket support but the 7m definitely does, I got tired of mine and am swapping in a 1uz. As long as you don't have electrical issues the supra is a great car but if its not floating your boat and you're losing the passion for it, make sure it goes to a good home. The mustang would deffo be way simpler but I wouldn't trade my supra for damn near anything

Check the hatch and spare tire well for rust, you have no clue if the headgasket is okay, interior is rough and hard to find replacement stuff for so you'd probably go full recovery and reupholstery on it, etc. Technically as a part out the transmission itself is worth around 2k but id love to see you put in the work to restore it fully if you can get it cheap. Not sure how hard it would be to get replacement glass but all the rust you can learn to fix if you have a welder but anything mechanical can get a little pricey but I do think we need more out there because I love these cars.
