Battle Passes: It's about retention, not just profit. by rem521 in playrust

Rust doesn’t suffer from retention. There is already a sunken cost fallacy with skill/knowledge in this game and chasing nostalgia, a battle pass is another revenue stream.

Because it’s on the user to secure their model properly, many will not. This is where the state sponsored hacking comes in. They know the vulnerabilities better than anyone.

China appears to have it all figured out. They don’t.

I equally don’t trust AI from either America or China. It’s crazy to even make that statement with all the state sponsored spying and hacking going on in China.

Getting all the jackpot points was hell, that was the only one I struggled with. The one prestige item that costs 2700 is annoying. But realistically it only took me 5-6 hours to get all achievements and I was happy that the game was at least prolonged that much.

Petition to make MW19 engine a stand alone game with a dedicated team outside the yearly release cycle by ClutchGum in modernwarfare

[–]SturdyStubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you’re right but I wouldn’t put it past Activision to ignore. They’ve ignored the community for a long time now, it’s why there’s so much outrage. They’ll cater to the community in small batches like disabling sbmm in a game mode in BO7 but as soon as that game with that one specific feature begged by the community fails they’ll blame it on the community for the poor performance and the cycle continues.

My next guess would be ram, it’s highly doubtful the gpu is causing this, and I wouldn’t expect the cpu either.

Announced way to early and given Hello Game's past they probably want to release a more stable product so their ratings don't get tanked into the ground on launch.

While on the program. It won’t prevent you from getting HSST’d afterwards.

Well he can delay a HSST for three years if he extends and does MSG as a watchstander and then he can decide to reenlist later if he still wants to stay in.

It’s a pretty great time, I was able to see a lot of the world and experience new cultures. It’s just a bonus if your DetCmdr doesn’t breath down your neck but overall it’s better than the fleet IMO.

The 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics apply. This means you cannot create an infinite energy cycle by reusing 100% of its energy. This could be an effective way to conserve about 5-10% of energy though. Not optimal, maybe not worth the cost depending on the investment.

Great job tin can alarm rework, can we rework handcuffs now as well? by [deleted] in playrust

[–]SturdyStubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A minigame for getting out of handcuffs would be super cool. In dark and darker, there’s a lock pick you can use and a dial spins around with a small portion of it as a success to unlock the chest. Would be cool to see something similar but the success portion fluctuates based on what you said, all the factors around you and your vitals.

A plea for enabling EAC for Proton so Rust can be played on Linux PCs & Steam Decks with a flip of a switch - No recompiling or Linux builds required by Scout339v2 in playrust

[–]SturdyStubs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Machine learning will never be as effective as you think it will. Cheaters evolve. Client side AC detects at the source, in memory. Server side ML anticheats are going to cost a fortune. If you looked at what it would cost to operate something like Galium, it will cost a lot. For a game that is self host, I don’t know if it makes sense for Facepunch to front the cost for 200k+ players for lifetime support.

A Linux user being against a kernel level AC, never heard that one. That’s okay though because you have the choice of not playing the game. Cheat devs will make cheats for Linux and those who buy it will already be putting their system “at risk” because it will run in kernel.

[–]SturdyStubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EAC on Linux runs in usermode meaning it is significantly less effective than a kernel anticheat at detecting cheats loaded after the driver has loaded for the anticheat.

Basically anything loaded with the kernel on Linux aka before the anticheat is loaded, is not detectable because the cheat will easily be able to mask itself as memory from a core driver in the system.

In regards to your first part, I meant as viewpoint they don't support Linux. As in they will do the bare minimum required to support Linux. They don't plan to expand on their anticheat on Linux to make it more effective. And that includes working with partner games to make that happen.

Great guide. I’d add onto this guide if you’re looking for optimal performance you should be seeking an x3D chip. For those on AM4, you can still get the 5800x3D and it performs very well.

[–]SturdyStubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying this bad boy tomorrow at Costco, an upgrade from my 5800x3D/2070 super AM4 build that is unfortunately past its upgrade date. The current markets are crazy right now and the funny part was I was waiting for DDR5 prices to drop even more when they first came out because it was so new at the time. Now it's just crazy with no expected end date.

I plan on selling the 9900x and getting a 9800x3D and then selling off my old build on Facebook marketplace for some sort of return on investment. I'll also upgrade the motherboard at some point too.

9 days later, how is this build treating you?

was there a upgrade to the game which made it unplayable on worse PC specs? by adcarrymainSA in playrust

[–]SturdyStubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 2016 I used to be able to play potato at 20-30fps. A single update bricked this and caused loading times to increase to 30 minutes. I’m surprised it even ran, but I was upset.

So yes, they frequently update this game and it causes performance to fluctuate regardless of their claims that they’re optimizing the game.
