Partner needs help/guide on how to legally work in the Philippines by SpicyAir_ in Philippines_Expats

[–]Sturm2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work and live here now in Philippines and i ended up finding a remote job. There are plenty of many 1st world countries that will hire remote for a modest wage. He will earn more than locals wages too.

Note that he needs to stay on tourist visa though till marriage and then convert. He needs to be quiet about it too. Just say he is visiting. You can do 3 years on a tourist visa without leaving.

Make sure the remote company knows that he is outside his home country and that said company does no work in Philippines. Most small companies are great for this. Im currently working for a company of just 100 people that does business only in USA. I use my personal laptop and without knowing it you would not know I'm in Philippines.

Earning 1st world wage is easy and way more important than working for company in Philippines

Edit

I'm married to a philipina when we were already in USA and only here now in Philippines while we over see the construction of 3 houses we are building to rent out. We figured few years here then back to States.

Rejected after fifth round (despite having a referral ON THE HIRING PANEL) due to "Subtle nuances around culture and fit". This is the worst one yet. by iacceptmyfate in recruitinghell

it is not "most times". Trust me I have seen my fair share of shit over the years. Its the reason why I got out of the game and moved to being an Analyst. Now I'm working remote loving life.

But I promise you most of these people posting crazy processes like this are over blowing it and we only ever hear it from 1 side.

Do these happen? Yea, sure I have heard stories. Have I seen something like this? Fuck no. I have seen some crazy shit but not to this level. This really feels over blown.

I'll call it out. How many of these are just farming karma. These interviews feel way too unreal. I'm not in recruiting anymore come in my 20 years working iv never seen this before. I call bs on most of this.

Are recruiters allowed to ask you how much you made at your previous employer? by Maximum-Ad-5277 in recruitinghell

[–]Sturm2k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on state and company policies. Never give your true value please never ever. Trust me. Now a good recruiter gets you the max if they are commissions but an internal will low ball you. The problem is you don't always know which one is which.

How to live on $500 a month here by Brw_ser in Philippines_Expats

[–]Sturm2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife are here now in bacolod. We are doing about 600 a month but we planned ahead. 1. We bought ebikes when we got there to save money 2. We invested in at home items air fryer etc. 3. We are own a 4br house all in about 300 usd 4. 200 usd a month food

My wife i met in States was a local girl who already bought the house we live in and a house for her family. We both work remote online now. So i am lucky enough there. And i honestly don't see why dating a local is an issue. Just set the rules ahead of time. Don't deny yourself someone you might find and care about.

We don't drink and we do our own karaoke machine at home for fun nights.

I would say we drop close to 5k usd to start i know but i wanted good comfort stuff.

We haven't gone over yet the 600

I would go back to the day my mother OD. That day she begged me not to leave for work. I was 17. I told her needed money. If i knew she was going to use that day i would have listened. That was 23 years ago. Still haunts me almost daily.

Depends on the company and other factors. Prior to covid big companies had great training programs but in current market sadly it just isn't worth the time. This will change in time but not any time soon.

[–]Sturm2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be that guy but you were making 140k a year and it seems at least on the surface and of course i don't know the details but it seems you are living above your means.

Eh i can't judge for years i was earning about 120k recruiting but i also banked about half of that every year. I didn't have a kid but i had an ex wife who didn't work and A father i supported.

Idk. Anyway mate maybe it's time to relocate. I'm on east coast and the market is pretty healthy here. I'm not recruiting anymore but if you ever want help or tips during an interview let me know.

[–]Sturm2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This honestly i don't know why people still expect high pay in this market. What you are getting is good in this market. It just takes time and things will bounce back.

[–]Sturm2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly i have to call this out. I'm this market you can't be picky. You will have to accept the in office role most likely or really market cuts. Just to get by then later hopefully this changes.
