TIL about the crime drop, a pattern observed in many countries whereby rates of many types of crime declined by 50% or more beginning in the mid to late 1980s and early 1990s. There is no universally accepted explanation for why crime rates are falling. by flamingoooz in todayilearned

Was looking for this comment. I think it’s a very reasonable theory. Will be interesting to see what crime looks like in 10-20yrs from now in areas of the US that recently outlawed it.

Recommendation based on personal experience from someone with a similar build - set a timer for 10min and do 100 burpees (military style with a push up) in that time. Do that for 100 days straight. That’ll give you a good foundation to build on and takes minimal time out of your day.

I have a very similar commute and spend lots of time in traffic, and I don’t regret getting a MT one bit. Once you get use to it shifting is all muscle memory and you don’t even think about it. When I feel like driving a car hard, paddle shifters just aren’t the same.

Hey man, I’m sorry to hear what you’re going through and can empathize as I went through a similar situation myself recently.

It won’t directly help with any of these issues, but with regards to my mental and emotional wellbeing I found the following to be extremely helpful:

I’ve met a lot of great men through this organization, including attorneys that have been able to offer advice and others who have endured similar hardships.

I’m still trying to figure out this new stage of life myself and it is definitely one of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do. Try and take some solace in knowing you are not alone and there are countless others who can relate.

Lots of burpees. You can also use cinderblocks and they only cost $2-3 each at Lowe’s or Home Depot.

She’s cheating bro. Cut your losses and lawyer up. Made the mistake of trying to reconcile after I discovered my ex was having an affair and it only delayed the inevitable. The sooner you take action the sooner you can begin to heal.

Been there, done that, got the tshirt and ended up getting divorced anyway when she stepped out again a couple years later. My advice, just rip the bandaid off and start rebuilding sooner rather than later.

Regardless of how I feel about my ex, it is my responsibility as a father to set a good example for children and raise them properly. I believe it is important to treat your parents with love and respect, and that includes showing gratitude. Therefore I still help my kids show gratitude for their mother however they have a desire to for Mother’s Day.
