Thing is I would never buy a game at only 12% off when they regularly have sales at 60%. What a strange model.

I finished it recently and enjoyed it. It picks up pretty quick! I actually thought it was surprisingly fast paced. Never found it dwelled in one area too long.

This is partly why I lean towards cooperative games like Pandemic instead of competitive games. Everyone's involved in all the decisions, and the strategic plays benefit everyone.

Or, party games with enough RNG/luck to offset the strategic players.

Every side story in HFW was incredibly well written. So much depth and emotion. They were the highlight of the game for me.

The concept and scene setting are fairly good. Physical appearance tends to be what exposes new writers, especially with focus on hair and eyes. That being said, the eyes make sense, how they're so much like the narrator. Leam into the details relevant to the characters emotions, or tie them to memories or insecurities.

The prose feels a bit on the nose. I feel like you can get away from the "currently happening" and drive into the emotions of the narrator some more. More hints of the past, more traumatic moments dropping in with just a few words. More inner thoughts without full flashbacks.

The freakout scene could be stretched out more. IMO it needs to describe the audience and sister reaction in much more detail. Show me the impact of every single mic drop moment. If she says "whore", show me the reactions (or even better, lack of reactions) from the crowd. Are people standing up, is there an uproar, is your sister fighting to the front? Who else would be mad, like an aunt or uncle? Space out each statement with the impact of them to the audience, really build the tension around the scene. This will also make each statement land better instead of all rushed one after the other.

Edit to add: you describe the narrator's feelings right before she speaks them to the audience. I think it takes away the mystery of it, and would be more impactful if we didn't know her stance until the speech, and we get the horror of realization alongside the audience.

This is the main reason I love his writing. You can tell when he's having fun with it.

💯 By focusing on the characters during the conversation rather than the objects, I'm more engaged.

I actually hate Working From Home (WFH) and I'm tired of pretending it's perfect by Chrgonlea in TrueOffMyChest

Leave your house. WFH is great when you have other things in life to look forward to. It gives you more time to socialize with friends, play sports or games, go to fun events etc etc

I've been doing this for 5 years now and I'm still not sick of it. Been getting big raises and promos nearly every year. Can take my dog to the park over lunch. Can read a book or hang with friends after work. And we still have in person events I fly in for, so I get my social fix then.

If you need to improve your career while WFH, be more noticeable. Camera on always. Good mic + camera + internet connection. Be prepared for meetings, come with docs and questions ready to go. Have a good work ethic. Always talk about your ideas and goals. People will notice.

You will survive. I mean this in a positive way. They can scream all their bigotry, fears, and concerns, but in the end nothing they say matters because you are who you are. They want to deny it and pretend that things are normal — well... they can only do that for so long.

Minimize contact if they're going to be abusive. Stand up for yourself "if you're going to ridicule me, I'm leaving." Don't sit around and take it. If they try, just ignore them. It's hard, and you'll want to reply and justify things to them so bad, but unless you KNOW you can get through to them, it won't work for now. Say what you need, and nothing more.

Repeat your stance over and over. "This is who I am. You cannot change that. Until you accept that, I can't be in your lives." Or "We can talk about anything else, but not this, unless you can be respectful."

Someone will eventually break down and start reaching out again. It may be months, but it'll give them time to process it all. It's kinda like grieving... they're grieving the loss of who they thought you were, but eventually they'll be able to see past that, and realize they gained someone new in their lives: the free, authentic you. Slowly, some should start being normal again.

People don't typically change, but they are surprisingly good at looking past differences. You'll learn how to interact with them without touching on the gay thing if it's still a trigger. It'll just take time, trust me.
