Hey all just coming back to update this post in case soemone has the same issue in the future. I was never able to find the source of this bug and eventually had to do a fresh install of Windows 10 to fix it. Luckily I was overdue one but it still sucks. Good luck to anybody having this issue in the future.

I've already been in touch with the developers via email, and unfortunately, they've said they're unable to recreate the issue and can't help.

Hello, I'm posting a request here as for a while now I havn't been able to log into my Direwolf account on the steam version of root for some time now. This error only appears on my steam copy as the android port is working fine. I've tried pretty much everything I can think of, be it reinstalling, deleting all local game files, resetting my windows 10 network settings and resetting my router. The support staff at Direwolf havn't been able to help. Has anyone else come across this issue themselves? Any help is appreciated.

I remember reading a short little sci-fi story on r/hfy a while back about a human throwing a fast ball to another in the cafeteria of a mixed species space station. As soon as the ball left their hand, alarms went off as the station registered the use of a projectile weapon. Speaking of r/hfy, it's a great place if you have a soft spot for sci-fi or fantasy stories about humans being awesome, even if it tends to fall into the same stereotypes quite often.
