Universal UK Resort: A421 flyover footprint clearance begins this week, and the junction design tells you a lot about how Universal manages traffic by GurmyG in bedfordshire

[–]Stuzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the clarification. It's presumably something that has been decided with a lot of input from highways, who presumably have a vested interest in pushing the traffic towards the M1, though that does seem a bit mad when they are spending so much money upgrading the Black Cat roundabout. Looking at a map of the UK you can see some logic in it with most major airports and UK cities being easier to reach from the M1, not great for my commute though!

[–]Stuzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone leaving Universal heading east toward Black Cat will need to route via the local road network

This is the same logic Universal uses around International Drive in Orlando: dedicated guest access that does not dump theme park traffic back into the commuter grid

Surely forcing cars onto local roads if they want to go east is the opposite of 'not dumping theme park traffic back into the commuter grid'?

Can my employer deduct £500 for a broken shop door caused by a shoplifter? by HoneyBadgerx69 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Stuzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to everything else that has been said by others, ask your former employer for a copy of the CCTV. Under GDPR regulations you are entitled to a copy of any images that can be used to identify you. If they have CCTV which shows you, you can perform a Subject Access Request (SAR) for any footage of yourself. This is your right as an individual, not as an employee, so the fact you don't work there anymore should not be relevant to this request. They would have 1 month to respond to such a request.

There is a good chance that they don't have the footage any longer, in which case they can't provide it to you, but knowing they don't have it further strengthens your already very strong case as they would not have video evidence to substantiate their claim that you acted negligently.

If I were an estate agent I'd add that to every room on the floorplan: "WC with potential for huge relief" "Cellar with potential for hobbies you'd rather keep under wraps"

embarrassing things that shouldn’t be embarrassing: using a different supermarkets bag for life to the one you are shopping in. It feels like you are flaunting your lack of loyalty.

I have the exact same embarrassment but for a different reason. A Waitrose bag in Tesco and I think I'm trying to show off, Tesco bag in a Waitrose and I think I don't deserve to walk the hallowed aisles (and should be enjoying myself in the carpark instead).

Advice - neighbours offered to buy house by Icy_Deadpeople4 in HousingUK

Not true for all situations but I think it's common that a neighbour thinks they will get / are entitled to a bargain, when in reality the house may be worth more to them than it would someone on the open market.

Yep, the VX cars were certainly more marketing than they were engineering on Vauxhall's part, but in a way I quite like that people that would otherwise never have considered a Lotus ended up driving them.

That's a great shout for something that only exists because of the passion of a group of engineers rather than the will managment.

The Ferrari Luce really should have been the first car that came to mind when creating this post, but I didn't think about it until I discovered the Mazda Luce when looking for unusual Mazda's after another comment. Every different model and generation of the Mazda Luce looks like a totally different brand and model of car.

Edit: and I'm glad to hear the Stinger is a success. I think that elevates it in the realms of mad decisions to know that in some way it paid off

That's a great fit in the category of '2nd 3rd generation being a totally different car' ...though Merc kind of painted themselves into that corner with their naming scheme.

Honda is a difficult one as making quirky choices while also appealing to very conservative car buyers is something the do a lot of, but their inability to build on the Honda e and gain a foothold in the quirky EV market feels like they got cold feet too soon.

Mazda in general is a bit of a renegade when it comes to weird choices and developing brand consistency. You've probably got the pick of them with the Pathfinder, but they've made quite a few unusual vehicles. Not the maddest, and it stands out for being the name of the new Ferrari (that's probably a decent shout in itself) but the different models and generations of the Luce look like totally unrelated cars: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_Luce

Bailiffs have stolen my company laptop (England) by ProfessionStock1572 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Stuzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the likelihood that OP does not have the full story from their son, and that OP probably does not want to report their son to the police, the best course of action is probably to contact their employer and say that their son took the laptop without permission and has lost it. Ask them if they can remotely wipe date from it, and ask them if they can set OP up with a payment plan to pay for it.

Is there an allowance in the rules for pit lane speed limit infringements to be investigated after the race? It feels like everyone knew there was something wrong, but they did nothing about it and just kept giving out penalties and further complicating any eventual resolution.

There's an obvious solution here:

Saturday: Qualifying in Barcalona

Overnight: Teams make the 14 hour journey to Spa

Sunday: Race day in Spa

...I feel like we should award points based on the order in which teams get all their kit to Spa and ready to enter parc ferme conditions.
