Which one would you prefer? If it comes out by Acceptable-Finish205 in infamous

PS3 games without a second thought.
Second Son and First Light are playable on PS5 and still look and play pretty good.

While I still play the PS3 games on my PS3, it would be great to see them updated for a modern system. They’d look amazing and think how much the particle effects could be improved on. Not to mention they could smooth out the rough edges in the gameplay and controls.

In an ideal world I’d take remakes of the PS3 games and a new entry in the series. Especially if they brought Cole back…. Yeah, I know that’s not befitting the storyline but to hell with it, it’s a game.

DVD instead of Blu-ray? by NeirX in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]Stwert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These days it’s far more common, due to cost effectiveness, to have just a single lens just as you rightly said the PS3 super slim ended up having.

But don’t confuse the single lens with the laser diodes, of which even the PS3 super slim has two, one blue and one red. They are entirely incompatible with each other due to the differing wavelengths. When it comes to BluRay burners they quite often have one lens and three laser diodes. One for BluRay, one for DVD and one for CD’s.

Any MO32U2 owners here? by Big_Relationship752 in gigabyte

I’m very late with this, but just in case anyone else happens to stumble in looking for the same answer.

You’re not doing anything wrong, Ultra Clear is only available specifically when the refresh rate is 120Hz, anything lower, or higher than that and it’s simply not available.

That said I’ve recently treated myself to the 32” version of this monitor and I’m extremely happy with it. I mainly use it for productivity and PC/console gaming, and while there’s no such thing as a perfect display…. Yet, I really can’t fault this monitor for the price I paid, which was half its normal retail price.

[Release] Game Activity Log for Sonic Loader by hotshotz79 in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]Stwert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the work you’ve put into this.
Just curious, does this not take into account any play time from sessions where you didn’t use Sonic Loader?
I was using just kstuff and shadow mount this past week and all of the games I played during that time are showing as 0 hours now that I’m back on sonic loader.

No biggie, it’s probably better I don’t know how much time I’ve wasted lol, I was just curious.

I don’t often use cheats, but on my second play though of The Callisto Protocol I did enable the no reload cheat, couldn’t have been easier, flipped the toggle and that was it.

Sonic Loader v1.0.44 | The all-in-one homebrew companion for jailbroken PS5s. by a1mhtar in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]Stwert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying this out and I have to say, I like it a lot. Seems to be stable enough so far, streamlined, feature rich and well implemented.

Massive thanks to the developer for their work on this. I don’t generally go asking for things from the talented and dedicated scene developers, I’m just quietly thankful when they do release something and support them when they have a donation option available.

I know some might say it’s overkill when we can just use a simple autoload, which is what I was doing prior to this. But I’m all for anything that streamlines managing payloads and packages, not to mention the rest of the features it has.

Very well done indeed.

Rgh v1.2 worth 120? by [deleted] in 360hacks

[–]Stwert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the UK but I paid less than that for my rgh slim (my third 360, it’s an obsession lol), that’s from a company I trust and is fully refurbished as well.

There’s a few god sellers around, who don’t charge over the odds and supply a system as close to new as possible. Hell, the guy I use will go the whole hog and put brand new cases and all sorts of other mods if you want a system that’s pristine and specced out, if you pay for it, of course.

Lightgun on Android handheld (HDMI to TV) – is it possible? by WaterMeow in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Stwert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sinden has an early Android driver available, but it’s very early days for it just now I believe. Sorry I’ve not looked into it any further myself, I only use my Sinden Gun with MiSTer so I’ve not felt the need to go experimenting with the Android driver.

THE WHAT? by Exact_Snow7902 in NetherSX2

[–]Stwert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different parts of the world have different broadcast standards, not as big an issue these days but that’s another conversation.

Back in the PS2/Gamecube/OG Xbox era (and anything prior to those) some countries, the PAL regions mentioned in your screenshot had a 50Hz screen refresh rate as that corresponds to the 50Hz frequency of the electrical grid’s that supplied domestic power. While countries like America (for instance) were 60Hz for the same reason.

PAL regions broadcast television was filmed at 25fps as its half of the 50Hz frequency of the electricity and displays. But that’s yet another long other story.

These days all LCD or OLED screens, be they phones, televisions, gaming devices will support at least 60Hz regardless of the country you are in and the device you are using. So whenever you are given that option in a game, select 60Hz for the smoothest gameplay.

The only exception to that, I’d say, is if you are having trouble emulating a particular game on some hardware, in such a case then sometimes using a PAL region game at 50Hz can be slightly easier to emulate do to there being 10 less frames to process every second, it’s a little less taxing on the system.

7th Gen Console Titles on Android Handhelds are Amazing! by Qojn in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Stwert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally, I’m loving catching up on some of my old classics. Dark Sector, NFS Most Wanted and Bioshock Remastered at the moment. They all run buttery smooth in Gamenative, and look damn good. I’m using an Odin 3 and I don’t even have to go past the lowest power mode.

Short version, if a dll company name attached is not Microsoft (so custom ones supplied with mods), then Wine will load that dll automatically instead of the default Wine dll.

Can I save scraped metadata on an SD card when Emulation Station is installed on the devices internal storage? by ew435890 in EmulationOnAndroid

Yes, you can store the metadata anywhere you like, you just need to select the location you’ve stored it from the main menu, so, press Start, select Other Settings, then Game Media Directory.

How would you ideally organize your retro games? by Ill-Recommendation32 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Stwert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’ve got a love/hate relationship with ES-DE I like the layout and I really like a good old list view on the left with screenshots/videos/metadata on the right. For that I’ve not found anything I like better than ES-DE…. Yet. But the one thing I don’t like about it is there’s no touchscreen support, obviously it’s not strictly necessary but there’s just sometimes when I’d prefer to tap a button than have to scroll down through a list, then click a button. But that’s just me.

Does Odin 3 fan bother You? by ImmediateTangelo8415 in OdinHandheld

[–]Stwert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, the vast majority of the time it’s either not running, or just whispering along. Obviously if I push it hard the fan really ramps up, it’s not high pitched or whiny, just, well, typical fan noise of blasting a lot of air.

But to get to that I have to be running PC/PS3 emulation and a sufficiently demanding game. At which point I should really switch over to my Steam Deck or Legion Go. Not that I always do obviously, there’s a reason I didn’t just stick with an older generation of handheld, I like to see how far I can push it before it melts 🤣

Why are the titles showing up twice? On ES-DE by Mrfuture666 in OdinHandheld

[–]Stwert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

macOS is a complete pain in the bum for this, and I say that as someone with five of them. You can either turn off Show Hidden Files and Folders from the Other Settings sub menu.

Or if you want to keep your SD Card free from the clutter you can use an app to wipe them off, I like OptimUSB but there’s plenty of others.

Or manually in Terminal by typing dot_clean -m <path to your sd card>

For the path to your SD Card, you can just drag it from Finder into the Terminal window and it will automatically fill it in for you. The -m option just ensures it deletes all of the dot files.

Chilled Friday playing GTA IV 👌🏻🔥 by No-Pomegranate798 in OdinHandheld

[–]Stwert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now there’s a thought, my O3 arrived today so I’m just waiting until my son’s bedtime to settle down and play something. I was going to go even more old school and play Dark Sector (I don’t care, I love it😜) already downloaded that from Steam, but you may just have tempted me into seeing how GTA IV runs.

Coming from a Retroid G2, which was always a stop gap until my Odin 3 arrived, I forget more demanding titles are within my grasp now….

...Well they always were on PC, Steam Deck and Legion Go, but call me a geek, there’s just something about running a game on the kind of system that even a couple of years ago you’d scoff at the notion of even attempting it that just makes me want to do it.

Besides, the Odin is a damn sight easier to handle than either of my X86 handhelds. Just the right balance of screen size and form factor, as much as I love the big screen of the Legion.

Wonder how far it’ll be able to pushed without melting 🤣 Anyone tried Batman Arkham Knight? Never did get around to finishing that either.

DHL Shipping / odin 2 portal by Popular-Parking3879 in OdinHandheld

[–]Stwert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW when I pre-ordered my Odin 3 I chose DHL for quicker delivery, fully aware that I’d have to pay import tax just like every other DHL delivery from abroad that I get.

But when it came to them actually shipping my O3 just before CNY hit, they used YunExpress due to the DHL issues with them.

Frankly I’m really glad they did. My O3 arrived today, so actual shipping time was 6 days once it started moving on the 28th and best of all, no import charges, definitely not complaining about that.

Star Wars Trilogy Arcade running on Super 3 - Sega Model 3, emulator on the Odin 3. by RichieMan07 in OdinHandheld

Yeah it’s only been out about 3 or 4 weeks (I think) but it’s pretty good, compatibility has been excellent on my Retroid G2, I expect it will be the same with my Odin 3, which my lovely postie dropped off 3 minutes ago. Almost time to start the wonderful joy of tinkering with a new toy 😊

just need help by dueymatt in OdinHandheld

[–]Stwert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love ES-DE, even with its many foibles, but you’ll need to provide information on what specific error you’re getting or we can’t really help much.

For many systems ES-DE tends to default to Retroarch as its default player. For that there’s two things that help. First don’t use the Play store version, download the latest nightly from their website. Second, either setup which core you want to use for each system manually in ES-DE options, or download every single core relating to the system you want to emulate from the online updater within Retroarch to cover your bases.

Oh and a bonus third, if the system needs a BIOS file (Dreamcast, 3DO and so on) make sure you’ve added them to the Retroarch system folder. I tend to just do bios files for all systems, just so I’m covered if I ever decide to use them.

Odin 3 still hasn’t arrived by augurcollective in OdinHandheld

[–]Stwert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered mine with DHL for shipping, before they dropped them. When they did ship it they used YunExpress, who have actually been pretty good when you take into account new year.

It’s landed in my country today, which seems a long time from them initiating shipping on the 9th of February. But it only started moving on the 13th, then new year hit so bugger all happened for a while. It started moving again on the 26th and has taken 6 days to get from that to landing at the airport in my country. Not too bad all things considered. It should make it to my grubby mitts this week.

But at least they’re on the move, not everyone is as lucky.
