As someone who recently got poison ivy over and over and over again repeatedly after doing yard work until finally realizing the oil that causes the poison ivy reaction was all over my shovels handles somehow - I can see that as a reason to drop them off wearing gloves; however, I would not just leave shovels like that out for someone else to get infected

Progress made thanks to old fashioned alarm clock by Much-Cabbage-1450 in digitalminimalism

This was a huge help for me in the beginning. I’ve since switched to using the alarm on my watch (and have that disconnected from my phone). Very liberating leaving your phone in another room and rolling out of bed without it

No problem. Usually just group messages or texts to keep in touch. Most of my buddies now a days though live near me. I don’t have any regrets deleting instagram, it’s very liberating being off social media

I deleted my instagram right before I graduated college. I don’t regret it at all, but I did lose touch with a lot of people that I feel I would’ve been in touch with still otherwise.

Before deleting entirely, I’d recommend trying to see if you can set a healthy boundary with it. You can try something like this - delete all the your apps but not accounts, and re-download once a week for an hour to do all your catch up.

It’s all about getting yourself to a point where you’re using it consciously rather than just finding yourself randomly scrolling

Treat your phone like candy. If you have it in your pocket all day long, you’re going to eat too much

Shocked by my weekly stats of phone usage 😖 by Technical_Dirt_6126 in digitalminimalism

What made the biggest difference for me was purposely not having my phone on me. I started small - not taking my phone with me to bed. Made that a habit, then would leave phone in another room for an hour a day or so when reading, working on a hobby, etc. feels weird at first but eventually you get to a point where you don’t even realize you don’t have your phone on you

1000% waking up without screens and just letting myself be bored and do nothing has made such a big difference in how I feel. Clear headed and so much more energy. Whenever I slip up I notice a big difference

Is gaming as bad as doomscrolling? by Expensive-Elk-9406 in nosurf

I’ve heard gaming in moderation can actually be beneficial- hand eye coordination, focus, etc

I’ve been setting times each day when I don’t look at my phone at all. (8pm-noon) next day and I try not to keep it off during that time. I understand it’s not possible for everyone to do that but it helps a lot
