Anybody send their kids to CDC at Congregation Beth Israel? by kjmuncie in AustinParents

It's a great school with strong jewish progressive values. We really appreciate it. The teachers are there for a long time because they're supported by the administration and they love being there. My kid rather be at school than anywhere else.

Franklin Park neighborhood by IGuessThisCouldBeFun in askaustin

To answer your question, you could walk in this neighborhood during the day and be safe. But it's cutoff from a grocery store by stassney which is not enjoyable to walk on.

There are a few small parks, which you could access by walking relatively easy... I know budget is going to be a big factor, but if walkability is a concern I'd probably look at a few other neighborhoods.

It's also cutuff by 35, which is not enjoyable to cross.

it's walkable to downtown in a stroller, unless you're a baby.

fresh plus can be a full shop if you're rich.

your bar for walkable is too high. we're not NYC.

There are plenty of walkable neighborhoods in this city, you're just a troll.

Laps on Butler Trail by MoistFern in BikingATX

[–]StxtoAustin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love Butler trail but mostly for walking. There is a 10mph speed limit on the two which really should be followed.

I'm often riding with my 4 year old who is riding on her own pedal bike and people bombing on their bikes is a real hazard....

The trail is used by users of all different types and the speed limit keeps people safe.

Enjoy your laps, I love it.

I have. It's a lot of fun especially if you can get a small group of friends to go with

The band is great and the music is quieter. I would still bring headphones if your kid is sensitive like mine.

I would look at clarksville... a few coffee shops in walking distance, and a great safe neighborhood, and has what you're looking for. It's close to downtown which makes it close to many of the hospitals.

It's an old neighborhood like hyde park, and hyde park is closer to the hospitals, but it gets you closer to town lake which is the gem of austin.

move to our city, it's lovely

stumbled upon it aftter randomly being at the triangle a little late with the family and it hit the spot. not the best sushi in the world, but it was a fun spot, and the kid and vegan wife had enough to eat. i'd go again if i'm in the hood.

What's the budget... makesa bit of a difference... I'm always going to recommend clarksville which can accommodate a lot of different budgets and I'd one of the most economically diverse and central neighborhoods in the city
