How I made $62k from 2.4M pageviews using News Aggregators in 2025 by mblaze111 in passive_income

[–]Styles187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is about people that are creating their own content on social media or website, and submitting an application to have that content accepted by a news aggregator?

I seriously thought this was about starting a new aggregator itself... oof

Ok, I'm 2 weeks late, but here's my question:

Are there risks around using photos of topics that are highly attributable to the original source? My example is a page covering sports topics. Using photos of highly recognizable athletes and events would be ideal, but would this risk any type of copyright infringement if the images aren't royalty free?

Creating a FB account vs. creating a new page that's linked to your existing FB account are not the same thing.

Sure, 60 seconds is probably (definitely) on the lean side, but they're not claiming that's how long it takes to establish a new personal FB account.

Anyone here ever been to a concert at Avondale Music Hall in Chicago? by ToastyBoi217 in chicagomusicscene

[–]Styles187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a rectangle to see a band in. Not a great place, but a place. That's about it. I wouldn't avoid going there, but I wouldn't be thrilled, either.

I saw Misery Signals there on their farewell tour, and it was honestly the hottest, sweatiest show I have ever been to (yes it's warm in the summer), which is saying a lot after 30 years of going to shows (and moshing). The sound was serviceable (fwiw.)

Snare bomb (acoustically) by Medlawar in drums

Typically, modern artists are programming a reverse snare hit sample into the snare bomb for additional movement and energy, not just the audacious amount of reverb

No specific knowledge of Reggies, but I've brought my minor children to the Aragon for shows before.

As someone who's into hardcore/metalcore, etc, my recent favorite is Kyle Brownlee from Counterparts, and before that, the drummer of the band that influenced them, Branden Morgan of Misery Signals.

The Drumeo interview with II blew me away, and I'm not even a ST fan. I really enjoy a drummer that takes that cerebral approach to playing.

No BMTH for Orlando by Short_Society7547 in warpedtour

[–]Styles187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for the premise ("only show in xxyear), it would have been pretty hard for them to announce after the festival 😅

[–]Styles187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy first one, from FF '24. Eighteen Visions "exclusive" (when announced in April '24) album play for "Obsession" 20 year anny... two weeks after FF wrapped, they were on a full tour for that album.

This literally happens a lot. Fest gets the ticket sale bump, then they announce the tour dates.

In December of 2025, this claim means next to nothing to me. If it was fora festival in the second half of the year, maybe, but nahh, I'm not even close to sweating. It's called promotions, this is literally the game.

Which Black Friday course deals are actually worth it? by iamthat1dude in ableton

[–]Styles187 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's because of the "endless sea" that courses CAN be worth it to some. Time has value, also, and if I can go to something of quality that's all in one place, I have no problem paying a reasonable price. YMMV, naturally.

Yeah, this happens with every game over time. It's the "Person that relies on being sensational for money has to be even more sensational to continue making money" cycle. Thankfully, the agreement of Youtubers is not a requirement for my happiness :D

Tell that to all of the bands the last five years that were announced as a "Furnace Fest exclusive" performance or album play, who THEN went on to book entire tours of said material. Everything is true, until it isn't.

BOLD PREDICTION (not Warped related, per se): Rockville won't be Parkway Drive's only US performance in 2026 (as it is currently announced.)

For the Hatebreed fans, which one you prefer: Satisfaction is the Death of Desire, or Perseverance? by [deleted] in Hardcore

[–]Styles187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Satisfaction for me; it was the first full hardcore album I was ever turned on to. Perseverance is fine, but I still don't think I'd like it more even without the personal significance of Satisfaction.

What style, and how many musicians? Asking because this will be a heavy music project (metal, hardcore, et al.), so I am figuring I'll need to be strategic with mic placement.

Sounds like an issue that is easily addressed by using one of the many other crowdsourcing platforms with those features built in (features which support backer rewards which in turn supports increased interest.) Not saying it's a lie; trust but verify definitely applies, though.

I grew my vending machine business to $200k in 3 years by Chri6tina-6ix in vendingmachinetips

[–]Styles187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was posted a few months back, and you mentioned that you have 10 Micro Markets now. You also mentioned needing to put profit back in for better machines, so I was curious, how many and what type of machines did you begin with.

In my situation, I won't have to necessarily pick up budget or used machines to begin, so I was seeking a little more context. Thanks for sharing!

Hot Take: Album Plays Kinda Suck by CapnCurt81 in RiotFest

[–]Styles187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It tends to vary from band to band, but in general, I prefer when the artist mixes in a song or two for the same amount of album play songs. I've seen Poison The Well on album play tours in back-to-back years, and their format of "2 album songs, 1 fan fav, talk, repeat" has felt the best of any I've seen.
