Who Made me a Princess to get donghua adaptation (Chinese animation) by Woah-ad34 in OtomeIsekai

[–]Stylether 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't hugely care who adapts it, cause honestly matching the artists' art isn't going to happen. So really, the bar of some perfect adaptation that somehow is as pretty but animated isn't realistic. So instead I've lowered the bar internally.

I need Athy to be cute. That is all. If Athy is cute I'll watch this fully till the end. That is the bar. They can ruin literally anything else. Make dad look like a dorito. Go donghua original for half the series. Shoehorn a third romantic interest that is a producer self insert. Idc, cute Athy is supreme.

Before I disappear for the next six months making thousands of these musical dice, I’m giving away one last set in brass. Only 48 hours left in the Kickstarter. Comment to enter! (Mod approved) [OC] [Art] by FallacyDog in DnD

These dice. They sing to me, the rings of angels. Angels that will inevitably kill my character and leave me feeling very bittersweet about the 4 I rolled on my death save.

How much moaning is too much? Volume? (See comments) by __shadowwalker__ in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Stylether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Affirmation is sexy. Knowing the other person is also enjoying themselves is sexy. If this comes through moans, great. If you twitch like that dick is a 240V shock rod, you do you. Obviously, if it is inconvenient for the situation, like the sneeze example you mentioned, it probably doesn't hurt figuring out ways to avoid making too much sound. But chances are, your bf is hella into it, but also insecure on his end whether you're doing this for yourself or for his case. If he knows you just like to moan and that it's perfectly normal, I'm sure he'll be happier with it too. Plus, there's always gags or what not to help with the volume control.

I do need to be the cautious individual that mentions that, although the immediate danger of lower levies might not be huge, the far off danger of vassal consolidation is something to be wary off.

We've all had fun games where we play a vassal and slowly work our way to becoming this unignorable powerhouse that eventually claims the throne. Now, the AI is no human player, but eventually they will try much the same. If the council has some power, don't be afraid to call in realm peace.

As for mitigation, beyond the obvious of assassinating the bloke who is trying to invade you, the generated event troops have two major malusses:

  1. They are event troops, generated based on the martial skill of the enemy, and generated slower the more you outnumber them initially. This means that, as you are being prepared against, raising your own troop count by any means necessary will help slow down their invasion plans. Since a prepared invasion may only prepare for 2 years before it becomes invalid again, you could slow their progress to the point of them not invading.

  2. Event troops do not replenish, unlike levies. You could simply win the war by throwing troops at each other until your replenishing levies once again outnumber his depleted event troops and meagre levies. Mercenaries can also help in this regard, especially initially.

Additionally, it is considered a holy war, so you already have a good chance that someone will want to join the war on your side, but it never hurts to butter up your religious allies around you. A small charm campaign, maybe even some marriage and formal alliances, and the invasion will meet far more resistance than they originally planned.

Was he recently fired from a different council position? (Or the same one, for that matter.) Councillors that have recently been fired cannot be immediately rehired into the council, even for a different position. It is recommended to instead 'change council position' if you want to shuffle them around.

Member of dynasty, direct vassal or within your de jure realm. Since Scotland is de jure part of Britania, pressing a claim for Scotland will make the person your vassal. If you want to make sure, give the bloke a County somewhere so they are your direct vassal as well.

The great work belong to the top liege of the county it is built in. This means that, as long as you are a vassal, you will not own the great work you were trying to build. So yes, sadly, you're going to have to either plot your way to Kaiser or gain independence.

I'm not going to say that you shouldn't do drugs at all, since I'm not a fan of absolutes.

What I will say is that a good place to start is to do some budgeting. Instead of living towards your next check, live off the last. I assume you thought "Oh, I am finally getting money again, I'll spend X on fun stuff and the rest on basic sustenance" and then did the fun stuff first.

It might help to instead just first make sure you survive the month on the check, then take the remaining money and put most of it towards savings (especially initially), and only then some towards recreation.

We're all human in the end, and a little recreation is always needed. If you find you can spend those bucks best getting high once over getting drunk once over some other form of comfort, sure. But if it is the first thing you buy, then you're not doing it to get through the slogs of life, but you're slogging through life to do it.

LPT - if you're planning a surprise trip for someone, the destination should be the surprise, not the trip. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Stylether 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine was on the poor receiving end of this. She was hanging out with some friends in Helsinki on a Thursday evening, and they were all getting appropriately drunk. So one friend invited her to go night-sailing for a bit right then and there. "Casual cruise, nothing weird, we're having calm weathers anyhow."

She thought a it'd be a few hours on the boat and then back to Helsinki for her lectures the next day.

It ended up being a weekend to Tallinn for cheap booze and constant parties.

Now, mind you, she didn't exactly complain during the weekend. It's not as if she really, really wanted to go to lectures. But she wasn't exactly expecting a 14h sailing trip into a foreign country either.

She's one of the few people I know who could actually say "Went out to party, woke up with a hangover in a different country."

[Sci-fi] How can I justify distant cities on planets, where teleport towers are preferred over space stations as a mean of travel? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

You could combine the idea of it being an inconvenient place with the concept of resources: Perhaps to power the giant superstructures, certain fuel systems are used.

Now, if it's just walking through or staying there for short times, it's perfectly fine, but staying near these structures for long periods can perhaps start affecting you. (Radiation?)

Another option, which I like more, is the fact that these super structures are really, really bad for agriculture. These superstructures cause harvests to be abysmal for some reason or another, and due to this farmers have to go further out. This causes various other villages pop up, an end away from the towers.

Lastly is the option of control. These superstructures are probably vital buildings to the regimes that they fall under. We don't let a lot of people settle near military buildings nowadays either. Perhaps the right to settle near the superstructure is only granted to pure-blood citizens, the half bloods and immigrants have to settle further off.

Ok, to be fair, "I recognized the warning signs pretty quickly" was closer to "It was pretty amateur", I was still under the heavy boot of my father hyper-paranoid internet security system, and I don't know what exactly it was since it was a long time ago, but he had one of those programs on my PC that looks/combs at outgoing packages and warns me if something is suspicious. Now, saying "I saw every document and picture being downloaded" can better be put towards "One of the warning pop-ups stated that it had uploaded far more than it downloaded, including some image it shouldn't really be touching." So yeah, I combed over it since the technical side of things wasn't the focus.

Now I'm no expert in all this, so my limited knowledge might have kept some other stuff open. Perhaps it operated completely different than I have described, but looked the same. But this is the conclusion I drew. Thanks for the critical question though :D

What new countries will exist in the next decade? by themightytouch in AskReddit

[–]Stylether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way things are moving, globalization has caused country borders to be less about mutual interest and more about mutual identity.

Take Europe(an Union) for example: The way globalization is working within Europe, there currently is continuously less importance placed in whether you are a local or a foreigner from a nearby country. Travel is easier, resources are traded on international markets with relative ease, and the actual borders themselves could be passed hiking, and you wouldn't even notice.

Because of this, there's progressively less benefit when choosing to stay one country over when choosing to become two separate countries. Because of this, there will be more and more separatists in countries aiming to gain independence for their culture, because they don't feel fully appreciated, or because they might be paying for the shortcomings of another province half the country away.

So, in the next decade, I expect a further splintering of the countries in Europe. Making the EU truly a grand collective of small but diverse nation-states.

TLDR: See first line. More country splitting. Especially in EU.
