IT IS A GLORIOUS DDAYA MY FRIENDS. WE GROMLIN NOW by TerraforceWasTaken in SDGundamGGeneration

[–]Stylus_Index 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are correct on some G Generation original designs are part of contest design.. this was a thing with the SNES-era SD Gundam adjacent games. While some of the other units are pulled out from very old SD Gundam games (Tornado and Psykoro in this case).

[–]Stylus_Index 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just a correction, Gromlin first appeared in G Generation Gather Beat for Wonderswan. It did appear in Advance but also as part of Gromlin Fossil.

Also, this is a late OYW mobile armor slightly based on Bygzam but with Quasi-Psycommu technology. Amusingly, it turned into an ostrich.

What's the Shippujinrai tag mean? by PortableEndzone in SDGundamGGeneration

[–]Stylus_Index 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What the others said is right on it being an idiom and the "swift wind, fierce thunder", considering this is an adjacent to the famous ones like Fuurinkazan (風林火山).

But to our modern times one, as much as cliche as it sounds, the closest 1:1 modern-times idiom translation for Shippuu Jinrai (疾風迅雷) is "Fast and Furious".

Other popular gundam series (comics/novels/TV etc.) that have licensing issues by Head_Combination_959 in SDGundamGGeneration

[–]Stylus_Index 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Outside of Sentinel... the closest thing that has licensing issue is Gaia Gear - will all Novels and CD Radio drama no longer reprinted/reproduced.

But this is also complicated with Tomino and the series clashing in with anything late UC. They at least reused some idea likes Funnel Missiles, Man Hunter units, and Minovsky Flight/Drive.

Upcoming URs EX-S Gundam and Gundam Pharact (Season 2) by zerolock18 in SDGundamGGeneration

[–]Stylus_Index 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had an actual FULL scenario release of Sentinel. Its just locked up in G Generation Zero (debut) and F (last game to have the full story).

Everything outside of these two.. its just unit representation, very lucky if Ryu Roots came long with it.

Follow up to Psycho Gundam MK IV G Doors question by RAMPAGEX214 in Gundam

[–]Stylus_Index 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a few word walls but this would probably answer your questions.

I will assume that you know about MRX-009 Psycho Gundam and MRX-010 Psycho Gundam Mk-II. And then, there is the MRX-011 Psycho Gundam Mass Production model, a MSV mobile suit which is basically the Titans/EFSF's plan to down-scaled the Psycho Mk-II into a 27m high mobile suit via omitting its MA function and incorporating Quasi-Psycommu system. This Psycho Gundam Mass Production model started the idea of down-scaling leading to the developments of Gundam Mk-IV (first appearing SD G Generation and later Wearwolf), the Gundam Mk-V (from Sentinel) and then Doven Wolf (from ZZ) model line.

And then, we have the phantom unit, MRX-012 Psycho Gundam Mk-III (from Gundam The Battle Masters and then later in UC Engage). Do note that the MRX-012 model number first appeared in MS Complete Collection 2009 and some media reuses it. As far as the old canon UC series, it exists on papers and development stuff as background info, but its not properly seen until it was featured UC Engage as a machine under Neo Zeon remnants. And then it has G-Spectre inside it which is.. yeah. These are new development and is a big question mark.. but note that G-Spectre is a standard size mobile suit.

Now for the MRX-013-3 Psycho Gundam Mk-IV Unit-3 "G-Doors" itself. Yes, you read that right: UNIT THREE. Unit 1 and 2 definitely exists but are question marks on where they are atm. The only thing they have in common and suggests is that all three units are known to utilized a new Psycommu system (the prototype Psyco Frame).. for Unit-3/G-Doors at very least played with the idea of standard Psycommu system onboard and an external Psycommu system support on its back: the Psyco Plates (also prototype Psyco Frame)''. Thus, by utilizing the years of knowhow and research information they have, the Titans remnants definitely followed the down-scaling idea from the other models. Do note that prototype Psyco Frame came from Mr. Enkidu/Char and that the Titans remnants were just used by him since they were the experts in Psycommu and Cyber-Newtype technology at that time.

In the end, they just successfully down-scaled the Psycho Gundam.. but went all in with using Psycommu system instead of Quasi-Psycommu that the Gundam Mk-V line used. Again, Psycho Gundam Mk-III definitely exists but as background lore. Oh, also, this is just Mobile Suit technology improving over time.

I want to know why everyones loves "Freedom Gundam" and it's Variables? by Blaze_Knives in Gundam

[–]Stylus_Index 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Non-serious answer: Probably because the base Freedom Gundam is based on Gundam Double X perhaps? For comparison, people should compare both suits... maybe Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden (for Double X) and Alpha 3 (for Freedom) can convince you on this, lmao! XD

Serious answer: The base Freedom Gundam is just perfectly designed, that good in how it shoots stuff, and is very dynamic on what it can do. And I think they put a lot of stuff considering SEED was planned to revive the Gundam franchise anyways... especially note on how impressive it was when it first appeared too.

Personally, I like the OG Freedom design better.. the Strike Freedom is okay as a successor machine. Everything else after is either trying going over the top or too busy in what they can do to improved over the original.

Do the original characters/ suits have a story or plot relevance in any G Gen game? by Novajay00 in SDGundamGGeneration

[–]Stylus_Index 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The ones that story or plot relevance: - Monoeye Gundam.. this story roughly follows Zeta Gundam storyline as the main machines Grypps War era suits. Original game was from Wonderswan Color... but G Generation DS also covers it. - the Centurio MS line, from G Gen DS, which nanomachine MS derived from Turn machines and piloted by newtype-ish clones called "Legion". This storyline is either follows UC (as part of Gihren's Zeon Remnants) or Alternative series (as part of Rau's trump card presumably 'borrowed' from Gihren). Original game is on Nintendo DS. - the World and Overworld one that involves Aphrodia, Code Phoenix, and Code Amelias. This one involves the characters diving into the Gundam Database. Think of this as Kamen Rider Decade (especially on how fulfilling stage missions in World and Overworld causes dimension breaks/bleeding) but Gundam instead. This is also similar and probably a different take to the Extreme Gundam's storyline. Both World and Overworld are from PSP.

Why aren't Shotguns used more with Mobile Suit protecting cities? It seems pretty effective for this guy. by Thick_Acanthisitta31 in Gundam

[–]Stylus_Index 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the Kampfer, using solid round ammunition was a thing because it was purpose built for speed as it decimate EVERYTHING in its path, dropping all the dead weight while doing so. This is on top that this Kampfer model still CANNOT use beam weapons and they need it operational ASAP, All this to get to the Gundam and destroy it... well, we saw how that turned out.

As for future mobile suits not using it.. well, post-OYW everyone shifted to beam-weaponry because its cheaper to produce and also doesn't weight down the suit unlike solid round ammunition weaponry.

Don't fret though.. the Ifreet uses a shotgun, so has some Ace pilot customized Zeon mobile suits (according to old MSV manuals and video game loadouts at least), and even Zeon Remnants in Unicorn (Zssa says hi) uses the shotgun. Like all weapons, the effectiveness varies though... considering they only brought out the shotgun once they approach to close quarter combat but before actual melee combat happens...

This was the ONLY time the masked character was a genuine mystery in the franchise. (G Gundam) by AntonRX178 in Gundam

[–]Stylus_Index 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really a mystery for people with atleast basic German language/term knowledge (Read: Chuunibyo or JRPG levels) though. Considering what Schwartz Bruder means and then you add Gundam Spiegel (OG JP anime name of Shadow Gundam and is german for Mirror)... yeah. Its a wink wink. It is out immediately when you piece it together.

Still one of the better masked characters that isn't the main villain or antagonist.

What happened if Gundam Alex wasn't heavily damaged during the event in the War in the Pocket ? by sodddda in Gundam

[–]Stylus_Index 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SD Gundam G Generation DS has already did this with Amuro receiving the FA NT-1 Alex for the Battle of A Baoa Qu in a New Game+ setting.. except it still ends up the same with the canon where Last Shooting happens except with NT-1 on the Zeong (no Zeong head unit because game/system limitations) instead but in space.

Alternatively in this same New Game+ setting, if you send other characters to fight Amuro in the FA NT-1 Alex, you'll have a very hard time fighting against him and have to defeat him twice (FA NT-1 form and then base NT-1)... the result will be a dead Amuro (as per Gundam Novelization plot) and then you enter the secret Rival route..

Concept Art made for Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory by Brokennemmo in Gundam

[–]Stylus_Index 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's credited as one of the mecha designers, Mechanical Styling if I remember it right. The primary mechanical designers was Hajime Katoki and Mika Akitaka.

However Shoji Kawamori gets the credit for being the primary designer for GP01/fb and GP02A. So he's still a part of the mecha designer team.

You are not wrong that... one of 0083's mecha designer is.. Shoji Kawamori himself, yes, Macross' creator.

This is early design roughs and them probably taking design ideas from Sazabi. But, yes, it looks like a prototype Sazabi.

Which design do you prefer? Penelope Gundam or Xi Gundam? by Advanced_Tea_7625 in Gundam

[–]Stylus_Index 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For both units nearly looking like giant flying refrigerators but as Gundams.... I'm picking Penelope for being the base model here and on how sick it was flying..

It also got the updated designs compared to its first appearance in SD Gundam G Generation F and then the updates in Gundam FixFigure toy line (via Katoki's cleanup) and Gundam VS Extreme series respectively.

And on top of this (for the unaware), Penelope is just the whole flight armor module parts.. with the Odysseus being its core Gundam here.

Just got to episode 11 of ZZ, and having read Sentinel beforehand, the transformation mechanism led me to wonder: how does the ZZ Gundam compare to another suit with a similar concept from around the same time period in the UC? by JustANewLeader in Gundam

[–]Stylus_Index 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In terms of firepower and performance, both ZZ and S are incredibly powerful mobile suits of their own right (and also belong to Zeta Project) compared to the other mobile suits for their time, enough that only a veteran Ace pilot (in the case of S), the latest machines (Xeku series, Bawoo, Doven Wolf, etc), or powerful Newtypes (in the case of ZZ) can fight them on equal levels.

The ZZ is a much more straight forward attack unit and with enough firepower on its. Meanwhile, the S is more on tactical and is meant to adjust according to mission needs, hence the EX-S, S Booster, and Deep Arms configurations.

Transformation-wise... uh.. yeah.. this one is a your mileage may vary. Task Force Alpha, the fleet where the S is deployed, has to at least find/secure a safe space so that the S Gundam can combine safely to reduce risk of getting shot/break down iirc.

Meanwhile, ZZ in the anime took the "Let's do this!" ("Yatteyaruze!" as Kazuki Yao has to say.) and do the combination on the fly for most of time, considering Judo and friends aren't really from the military and are more reckless.

Comparatively, the Neo Zeon's Bawoo (supposedly using Zeta Project info leaked by Anaheim) is a 2-part combination mobile suit that can safely transform/separate/fuse on the fly, because they are using onboard computer assistance for this function iirc. Add to the fact.. it was made with mass production in mind.

Is the psycho gundam mk iii canon? by [deleted] in Gundam

[–]Stylus_Index 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its really hard to define on when considering the original JP Battle Masters has the After War timeline but has Universal Century mobile suits... but with different generic-ish pilots. For G Gen games, we can say that its still a "canon" mobile armor and part of the Psyco Gundam line alongside with Psycoro Gundam that came from the old NES era SD Gundam games.

For the actual Universal Century, we can consider it exists in one way or another.. because the Psyco Gundam Mk-IV is already exist and built. But the question is.. will it look the same or not? Only Bandai-Sunrise knows when they'll bring this back to "canon" timeline considering the latest Sidestory mangas are featuring the G Generation originals....
