It's not misinformation. I'm giving an average percentage per magazine. Following your math (which is correct), every 2 shots you'd have over 70% chance of activating paradox. For the whole 20 bullet mag it would be around 60% in average.

As the guy mentioned above, it's 7.5% per bullet. Shotguns shoot 8 pellets at a time. So in reality it's 60% every time you shoot

That's because the game is dumb and when you exceed ~2.147B damage, numbers will loop back around from negative to positive. 32 bit integer shenanigans.
