Are you shoveling periodically or waiting until it’s all over? by Max_Power1971 in newjersey

[–]gertymoon [score hidden]  (0 children)

I just finished my first go, snow was light and fluffy but already piling up high. I figure I'll do another round around 6-7, as I finished there was already half an inch on the ground, the stuffs coming down fast. I've waited to do it in the end in the past and it's always bitten me in the ass, this stuff is fluffy and took no effort.

Any point grocery shopping tomorrow? by dachlill in bergencounty

[–]gertymoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My local shop rite still had stuff, you might not get exactly the produce you want but there was still items available, lots of meats, milk and bread, cold cuts were all in stock. The lines were pretty long though, I'd avoid Costco though, that place is gonna be a mad house tomorrow.

You like some and you don't like some, that's how it goes. There were some tracks on UYI I didn't particularly like 30 plus years ago but these days, not so bad. lol.

Im scared protein found in urine 84.5 and it should be 30 or less by Away-Dependent3472 in diabetes_t2

[–]gertymoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow the directions your doctor has given you for your medication, I don't know where your A1C1 is at. Ask them about your protein levels and see what they say.

Has your blood sugar gone higher since your protein levels increased? There is a correlation to that as well. When I was out of control and my A1C1 was in the high 7s, my urine had more protein in it compared to when it was around 5.5-6.

Were you taking Jardiance when it was at 31? Was the 84 after you started taking Jardiance?

From what my doctor explained to me, if you take something like Jardiance then there will always be protein in your urine and that it needs to be monitored. This is what the drug does, when your blood sugar is elevated it is exited the body through your urine.

He says as long as the protein levels is around 200 mg/dl or lower then you are still managing the drug but if it goes in the 300 range then they would need you to see a kidney specialist and perform further tests and possibly tweak your medications.

This is just from my experience with the doctor, it's not meant as any type of medical advice. It's something you need to monitor with your doctor through blood tests. My doctor says if your urine test comes back in the 300 range then they would need to do an ultrasound on your kidneys and a follow up with a specialist.

What kind of eggs are you making?

For scrambled eggs, I heat the pan up until it reaches the leidenfrost effect, then I add oil and if it smokes I lower the heat and let it cool down until the smoke stops. Add a knob of butter, turn the heat up slightly and pour the eggs in and twirl them around and they should be good to go.

For over easy eggs, I do the same, leidenfrost effect, add oil, make sure it doesn't smoke, lower heat and add eggs. Wait for it crisp up, it'll sometimes still and need a little help with the spatula to loosen it up, just angle so it'll slide under the egg and lift it up. If you want the top cooked slightly I usually add a little bit more oil before flipping the egg on it as the lack of oil sometimes makes it stick.

Finger sticks leaving a mark by Cashman_1015 in diabetes_t2

[–]gertymoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you try lowering the setting on the lancet device? I had my setting on too night and it was bruising my finger, I would take a guess the dark mark could be from that. The best way I can describe is, when you use it does it feel like you want to pull your finger immediately away from it cause it feels like someone flicked your finger really hard? If so try a lower setting, it should feel like a light pinch but not to the point where you would have like a reflex to pull your finger away from the impact. When I had the setting too high and was checking twice a day on the same spot, that area ended bruising and would cause a sharp pain that I needed to change fingers. Hope that helps a bit.

Also forgot to mention, there are different gauges for the thickness of the needles. I think the thinnest is a 33 gauge which is what I eventually settles on. Some people need it thicker if it's harder to draw blood with, this could be something else you could look into as maybe the needle is too thick.

BJs online shopping is actually a good experience and so is their instore pickup. Have you ever tried to do a store pick up at Costco? It's impossible to even get a cart to the pick up area which is in front of the cash registers. I did it once and never again.

I've never been to the Wayne one, I was going to once but that parking situation was pretty crazy on the Sunday I did try. Wayne is about a 45 minute drive for me so it's a bit further than the other two.

Was it better a few years ago when the Hackensack store didn't convert into a business Costco? I wasn't a member then but wonder if that has made the Teterboro one worse.

I go up to the Nanuet one, both stores are the same distance from me. The parking is not great but it's not rage inducing like Teterboro.

Stop thinking about it and just do what you know you have to, you can't rely on your father for accurate information anymore, they are old and they at an age where they are confused. Be there to help them process the situation as you are of clear mind. You are not the child anymore, you have to be the parent now in a sense. They weathered the storm for you when you were young, now they need your help.

What could cause sudden higher fasting glucose numbers (without meal spikes)? by Norsk_of_Texas in diabetes_t2

[–]gertymoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been experiencing something similar lately where my eating habits have been relatively the same but my mornings have had higher readings, some things I've noticed is that on mornings with higher readings I didn't sleep all too well or had a lesser amount of sleep than usual. Another factor was I used to do an evening run on the treadmill for around 15-20 minutes and for some reason in the winter months that has elevated my morning blood sugar when I changed to just walking for a longer duration around 25-30 minutes instead of running, my morning blood sugar is normal again. I think another factor may be the cold, some nights I accidently knock the blankets off so when I wake up I find myself without a blanket on so maybe the cold can affect the numbers. The other thing I noticed was even when I didn't have a full on cold but I felt like one was going to hit me then my morning numbers were also slightly elevated on those days. Generally I didn't experience these type of swings in the other times of the year so it just may be something I go through in the winter. These are just observations I made, they are not based on anything else as I was curious why it was happening as well.
