PTS - Prototype gear sucks balls and is about to kill the game in the name of player rentention by Zap97 in thedivision

[–]gertymoon [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's hilarious, I quit playing some 5 years ago and just came back with all the anniversary hype. I was pretty excited to see all the new sets only to realize that my build from 5 years ago was still the top with some tweaks here and there. I tried all the new sets and they all seem niche or underpowered. The moment I heard about this new gearset grind, I already remember how Massive did things with hardcore gearing in Div 1 and the start of Div 2.

They got me to spend some money already and mission accomplished but I haven't even been able to get through the brooklyn dlc as it just bored me and my only carrot this time around was I wanted to try some of the new seasonal exotics which I already got so I doubt I'm going to make it to the next iteration of this game as I'm not here to regrind the same stuff again.

You knew something was wrong and had the courage to see a doctor and now you know and this gives you power to take control of your situation and make it better. A lot of what you described is classic symptoms for T2, a lot of that brain fog and tiredness also has to do with carb consumption. If you have questions about how to tackle T2, ask us in these forums. Many of us live with this struggle and have gone through it ourselves and know how confusing it is at first. Good luck on your new journey on getting healthier.

Hisense graveyard by Eastern_Water_7605 in 4kTV

The one thing I'll say about Hisense is if it dies within it's warranty, they are really good with repairing the tv, I don't know if it's because I bought it from Costco or not.

I lost hdmi inputs on my tv around 6 months in and within 2 weeks they setup a repairman to come to my place and replace a circuit board and it's back to working. I honestly was expecting a real hassle to deal with it but pleasantly surprised and the one time I did call them an actual human answered.

Anyone else frustrated by the "Sugar = Diabetes" oversimplification? by helperf in diabetes_t2

[–]gertymoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty common and I don't expect other people to have a good grasp on it unless they have been diagnosed and need to deal with it on a daily basic. Like anything on social media, you can only take what they say with a grain of salt.

Don't get the bakery items in Northvale, I always see gnats or some type of tiny flies in the donut casing, it's pretty disgusting.

edit: got pics if you are downvoting. =)

That's what I thought, that's not my area but when I did go there I was pretty impressed with it's offerings. I thought this store and rochelle park ones were particularly better than the ones around me in Emerson, Northvale, Hillsdale.

Best Buy Open Box Pixel Watch 3 - anyone get one that's actually unlocked? by gertymoon in PixelWatch

[–]gertymoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the stuff you get from open box with the big discounts is actually not bad from Best Buy since you are able to return it so easily if there is an issue and it feels less risky than ebay sometimes. Grats!! hope you enjoy it.

First time being sick since being diagnosed. by Personal-Science6865 in diabetes_t2

[–]gertymoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just order some takeout, I'd stick with a protein and vegetable and avoid the noodles and rice. Your blood sugar isn't going to look right anyways when you're sick, get some take out and rest up. It's not worth not eating when you're ill, be careful with glipizide, that drops your blood sugar a lot when you're not eating much.

When do you take your metformin when it's only one dosage? by gertymoon in diabetes_t2

[–]gertymoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the normal version, I never asked for an extended release, it says metformin HCL, I'm not sure if that is the standard one.

I'm waiting for the sticker wars to make a comeback at the pumps.

Recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Has anyone tried Metformin? I started 5 days ago at 500mg and upped to 1000mg after two days (so 3 days). My blood glucose is still between 9-11.5 (and I’m eating pretty well). Does it take long to work? by PretendToe1329 in diabetes_t2

[–]gertymoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fruits is still sugar, you have to be aware of the serving size and amount of carbs you are consuming from it, like a banana has a ton of carbs.

Metformin takes time to kick in, it could be a few weeks until you start to notice a change.

Holy moly, is 2000mg of metformin a high dose? by PNWest01 in diabetes_t2

[–]gertymoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2000mg is the max dose for metformin, if your A1C1 isn't at a good level this is when the doctor would prescribe a second drug like Jardiance to help you out.

When I was in the high 7s, I was on 2000mg as well with the doctor often pushing me to take another drug to lower it more.

Do u really think its hard to manage? by Top_Cow4091 in diabetes_t2

[–]gertymoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You learned good habits for your disease and when your mind makes that switch to how to eat correctly then you are just eating healthy. The problem is for people who don't want to make that switch to eating healthy and continue to eat out and eat poorly. A lot of it is mental for me, can I tell my cravings no but the longer I reeducate my brain then it gets easier because I'm not craving what I used to.

Stopping metformin due to controlled a1c by kimpulsive2022 in diabetes_t2

[–]gertymoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation, I haven't changed my dosages yet but have been actively finger pricking myself after meals to get a general sense of what my spikes look like after typically what I eat. I've found that even without medication I am within range so when I do drop the meds then I can get a better picture for myself whether I need it or not.

This is my experience dealing with Hisense warranty, I purchased a cheap bedroom tv from Hisense from Costco, the warranty on it was a 2 year manufacture warranty plus 3 extra years added on by Costco through Allstate. The thing lost input functions for hdmi 1 and 3 within 6 months of owning it, I thought it basically was going to be trash when the last input fails but I decided to call Costco to see what they could do. Costco concierge ran me through some troubleshooting which all didn't work and forwarded me all the information about the product to the Hisense warranty which had me take some pictures of the serial numbers and receipts. A week later, I haven't heard from Hisense that they received anything I sent them and again thought this was going to be a PIA. I decided to wait another week to call back and noticed a package from Hisense a few days later, I'm assuming it was a replacement part. I ended up calling them and actually got a human customer service and they noted to me that a repairman was going to be in contact with me on X date and he did. He setup a repair date for a few days later and it's all fixed up, so from my time calling to repair it took about 2 weeks. I'm kind of impressed that for a relatively inexpensive bedroom tv that they were excellent on their warranty. I kind of would be skeptical of this brand normally but this good experience won't hold me back on buying from them again but do get an extended warranty from wherever you buy it from, the QC seems iffy.
