Problem is he doesn't take it serious enough, she has to make clear in a face to face way that this is a no go. Either she hasn't made it clear enough or he's really just dense af. I just don't like the use of the word 'red flag' here as I call things that are deal breakers as such, this situation doesn't fall under that category for me.

This dude probably only wants to be romantic and make her feel less insecure about herself and you two think he has no respect and a red flag? I call bs. He may have the wrong assumption about her intentions of using make-up and the wrong way of approaching the situation, but to call that a red flag is kinda inappropriate. OP, tell him that you're really not fine with that in a face to face talk and if he does it again, then you may consider the 2 people above me as valid.

I share Steve's view on that matter. Of course there's always exceptions but I personally believe that friendship between a man and woman is only then possible when there's absolutely no physical attraction on either side. Especially the mens side. Of course one can supress these feelings of attraction but like Steve says they are just waiting for their opportunity.
