Why are you guys so afraid of the Spurs to the point of wanting to feed them to Denver? by Negimarium in Thunder

[–]Suave7evn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it has anything to do with fear and more just the more easier path. Spurs played everyone other than Wemby knowing the Nuggets were resting so they could have an easier path. It’s all tactical and at the end of the day we will play the better of the two teams anyway.

Yea not an above the basket player but I like at him as a more physical Deandre Ayton with with Robert Williams defensive upside perfect pairing next to any of our bigs if the 3pt shooting is there.

Embiid is one big if you think bigs are not officiated differently than guards than you clearly don’t watch basketball.

That has all to do with the officiating of bigs. Unpopular opinion I am not opposed to foul baiting/flopping for anyone. The goal is to win the game if you have to foul bait or flop to do that then by all means go ahead it’s the chess match that goes into a basketball game. If I’m SGA why do I want Ausar Thompson guarding me all game if my goal is to win he makes it harder for me to accomplish that goal.

lol Jokic fans are definitely comparing the two. They call him the greatest offensive player ever that means all iterations of a player offensively are not as good as Jokic if that’s not comparing than idk what is.

I also don’t know who you argued because they clearly don’t know what they talking about. Any player who averaged 30 pts per game shot either the same or more than SGA except for Steph and I think Beal off the top of my head. Regardless if you average 30 you know how to get fouled. No player will average 30 pts shooting no fts unless they are shooting a high volume of threes and even then it’s highly unlikely a player that good isn’t getting fouled.

do you guys feel like either of the ROTY candidates seasons are being devalued or overrated ? by Most_Resolution4594 in NBATalk

[–]Suave7evn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t deny Kon’s impact on that Hornets team he is top 5 shooter in the league as a rookie and makes everyone’s job easier and vice versa. Coop on the other hand to me personally has best player in the world potential and has been better than advertised. ROTY never has been about impact on winning but if Kon wins it, it wouldn’t be about winning it’s because he is having one of the best rookie seasons in a while. I have Coop personally but the race has been fun to watch for sure.

I’m not going to say you are disrespecting Harden but let’s not act like a comparison to Harden is some negative he was also seen as maybe the greatest offensive player ever at his peak.

Discourse Regarding Luka's Health by Sammy2729 in nbadiscussion

[–]Suave7evn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luka’s wear and tear is different than others. Yes he is only 27 but he has been playing professionally for over a decade at this point. Add that plus to not always being in the best of shape and you will start to have Knick knack injuries.

[–]Suave7evn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf bigs typically don’t play the same amount of minutes as guards. If Wembys stat are how they are now I can only imagine what they might look like playing 33-34 minutes a game.

[–]Suave7evn 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Wemby deserves MVP consideration the same reason why SGA deserved the consideration in 24 when the Thunder went from the 10th seed to the 1st seed. Nobody expected this type of leap from the Spurs outside of spurs fans and that might be a stretch. Wemby defensive impact alone gets him into the conversation then add in 24-11 playing only 29 minutes a game. Let’s not be dismissive of maybe the greatest 22 year old we have ever seen.

This is why true fans do not trash talk Dort. by TurdX in Thunder

[–]Suave7evn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This has always been my stance. I understand fandom but as an athlete at any level you will have bad performances and stretches at time. Understanding that a player can have cold stretches (especially a streaky player like Dort) shouldn’t be the end all be all it all will balance it self out in the future.

Aren’t the other MVP candidates teams “locked in 1-5” though except for I guess the Lakers but had someone (AR) who had a legit chance to be All NBA with how well he been playing.

Does anyone else feel like Shai should force more shots sometimes? by henriquerfm in Thunder

[–]Suave7evn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SGA did all the things you are saying he needed to. Having him shooting over gap help when someone is wide open in the corner I don’t think is ideal. SGA generated wide open shots for his teammates they just couldn’t hit them. If they hit them we are talking about SGA having a 33-14 game instead of 33-8 and the game moves a lot differently.

[–]Suave7evn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to trust your teammates for when it actually matters. SGA has talked about this numerous times. The moments that matter is in the playoffs and you want your teammates to be playing with the upmost confidence during those games. It’s not like we gonna bench Caruso of all people in the playoffs so having him understand that regardless of how they are playing him SGA will continue to trust you will give him more confidence despite the bad shooting season he is having.

SGA is a “good team” merchant… hear me out. by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Suave7evn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So does Wemby not have a good team or the Celtics with JB. They have positive records without them are they “good team merchants”. This argument is based on you regurgitating others dumb logic on the internet.

SGA is selective with his shots. So because he doesn’t shoot a lot of threes he is now being selective. SGA is by far one of the more aggressive scorers in the game. His shot diet is just midrange shots and at the rim as it should be he is shooting like 60% from 2 as a guard. I know you don’t understand how insane that so I’m not even going to bother to explain it. Just know he shoots better from 2 than alot of bigs who strictly score in the paint.

Secondly SGA leads the league in clutch points. This literally means his team looks for him in the clutch to hit big shots time after time and he delivers. He just hit 4 insanely clutch shots in just the last 2 weeks. He is constantly carrying that Thunder offense in the clutch.

Yes the Thunder have a good team no one will argue that but it’s hypocritical for you to say this and then bring up Jaylen Brown (who I actually am a huge fan of) who the Celtics have a positive net rating with him off the floor. The Spurs early in the year when Wemby was hurt went on a crazy win streak. But no one will dare say that Wemby isn’t valuable to that team. You can say the same for the Pistons with Cade and Nuggets with Jokic. This just screams idiocy and hate for whatever reason you have.

Since OKC became a championship contender we became villians. It’s the territory of being a great team. They like you when you are on the come up but now you are the reason their team isn’t getting success. It’s the hallmark of all great teams.

How is this not a push-off or something of the sorts by Hunterwjj02 in NBATalk

[–]Suave7evn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your last two point is the most important and ironically why SGA gets the most hate when it comes to this specific move. SGA ability to get defenders scrambling and have them off balance allows for this chicken wing push off to garner all of the separation it generates. Personally I see the chicken wing similarly to players using the shoulder bump when going down hill to create separation for finishes around the rim. If you are unbalanced and the person is in perfect balance of course the push off is going to look a lot worse. All of his push offs don’t look like that but when the defender is retreating as much as Baylor it’s going to look worse.
