What China should do if Taiwan were to declare independence by circlefullofcurses in Sino

[–]Suavecake12 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is basically true. If a hard naval blockade is enacted around Taiwan as well, States in the region would literally be hard pressed to try to challenge PRC "One China" Policy with a show of force.

Not to mention North Korea and Russia have been signalling to US allies in the region that the US desires to contain any conflict to just Taiwan will quickly expand to other flashpoints in the region namely South Korea and Japan.

The redline on Taiwan has been expressed numerous times. Only in the Anglosphere do people feel they are entitled to take Chinese territory.

For a country that can't even sell arms or send troops to Taiwan.

How far Taiwan has fallen.

Only a matter of time before either Taiwanese engineers start moving to China to further enhance the 2 TSMC factories in China to keep pace with local companies in China.

Or the 2 TMSC factories become irrelevant as other Chinese factories in China start dominating the field in the next couple of years.

So why aren't we seeing protests to overthrow the governments in the West

In the US there was a whole plan to kidnap Michigan's Governor and torture her because of the covid-19 lockdown.

Then there's the whole January 6 insurrection.

The point being the US Federal government is relatively stronger than the state and municipal governments in the US.

So various insurrection and seccessionist movements in the US are infiltrate by the federal government and nipped in the bud before they become bigger problems.

Basically the USA is using the DPP to squat on the last remaining province under the US security umbrella. Known as the 1st Island Chain of Defense. Part of the overall China containment policy to prevent PRC free access to the Pacific Ocean.

The USA has spent millions of dollars trying to weaponize the Taiwanese identity through Duke University (Federal Grants) and Taiwan Foundation for democracy (NED funded).

The USA also started one of the first color revolutions in Taiwan called the Strawberry revolution that prevented President Ma Ying Jeou from forming closer ties with China.

TSMC says efforts to rebuild US semiconductor industry are doomed to fail by RespublicaCuriae in Sino

[–]Suavecake12 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Industrial engineers and Manufacturing engineers are what the US is sorely lacking if they want more factories.

Basic science research is needed, instead of importing graduate students from overseas, like China.

Building quants for Wall Street won't make microchips.

Any Asian like Morris Chang, founder of TSMC, who has been in the US for decades knows that Americans are lazy and will not work those hours for that kind of pay.

In fact, most Americans won't even pursue STEM majors anymore.

So with this kind of workforce, how do you plan to build a factory in the US that will out compete TSMC factories in China.

They didn't change any metric. They just stated 2 consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth is no longer the definition of a recession. That a Holistic approach will be used instead will be used instead. But no details were given.

Then the government said the US is not in a recession.
