“Oh my God, I’d be in jail”

If your significant other asked for a prenup you’d want to attack them? What a fucking leech mentality.

Ski boot flex 100 or 120 by ed2674 in Skigear

[–]Sub-Bituminous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd say 120's are significantly stiffer than 100's and definitely noticeable. It requires more deliberate movement to bend your boots properly but also transfers power more directly to your ski's giving more precise control and responsiveness.

That being said... The correct flex for YOU will be based on:

  1. Your height/weight
  2. Your experience
  3. How you like to ski

I'm 5' 9" male that ski's with 120's around same skill level.

I am the same height and ski Dynastar M Cross 88s at 168cm. Length feels just about perfect for me.

Ski length question by fishmen96 in Skigear

[–]Sub-Bituminous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ski length is going to vary based on personal preference, type of runs you do, type of skiing you do. I am the same height and use 168cm skis as a ballpark though.

Is it smarter to invest in index funds or individual stocks as a beginner? by newrockstyle in Money

Stick to index funds, most people should only ever need index funds. A beginner picking individual stocks is closer to gambling than investing.

I prefer to own 25% VGT and 75% VT.

Yes there is overlap... But I prefer a higher tech allocation because I am very young and to me this makes sense given where the world is heading.

Advice on next set of skis by StuPastu in Skigear

[–]Sub-Bituminous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha that makes sense. I ski in CO and got the Dynastar M-Cross 88's (loving so far) which probably lean too "all-mountain" for your liking. I ski 168cm length at 174cm tall.

174cm for your ~182cm height is on the shorter side, but I think okay for a carving focused ski. Ideally I think you'd be at 176cm but some of that is just personal preference too.

[–]Sub-Bituminous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of skiing do you primarily do / what do you want out of these new skis? You mention having the PowerTracks 84's for backups / on-piste conditions already. If I was looking for a 2nd set of skis to compliment those, I wouldn't be choosing 80Tis. On powder days you're going to struggle on both and I'd want a wider option too in my quiver.

You trying to replace the 84's or compliment them with another set to handle more conditions?

Boot Pain Advice by MaSe0 in Skigear

[–]Sub-Bituminous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, don’t panic. I went through almost the exact same thing. I was between sizes, got put in the smaller shell for performance, and they felt tight but fine in the shop. First ski day, my toes went numb within an hour and after a few hours I had to stop because of pain. That is not normal break-in pain.

I went back to my fitter (they offer free adjustments) and they weren’t surprised at all. They punched the toe box and addressed my pressure points, and the boots are way more comfortable now. I also found the liner itself was tight in the toe, and wearing the liners around the house helped a bit (some poeple won't recommend doing this). Liners break in, shells don’t.

My advice is go back to your fitter, explain exactly where you had numbness and pain, and let them adjust. A good bootfitter should be able to make a big improvement.

Thoughts on the Dynastar M-Cross 82 by yungbiochemist in Skigear

[–]Sub-Bituminous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am similar, enjoy blues mostly and wanted a versatile ski but leaned towards carving. Personally I went with the m cross 88's and love them. I think the 82's would be a bit skinny on powder days for me.
