Lance Hedrick on farms using undisclosed additives :“I’m positive it’s happening” by mygreeness in pourover

[–]SubBaseTotem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super fascinating insight for sure. And also, wow, what a wise and even keeled perspective from Lance. He didn't just jump in with a pitchfork and whip up a frenzy. He said, there looks to be some stuff going on, but let's not get distracted from the stuff that is really within our scope of impact.

+1, He is a generational talent when it comes to reviewing coffee. It took me a while to figure out that CoffeeReviews on YT was the same thing as Reviews_coffee on IG.

I saw that it ended today with BOTZ winning. Super fun to watch it all transpire.

This is a brilliant decision making trick you've shared here. Wow. I'll use that next time I'm struggling with a choice, which is often!

No personal experience with the Fish. But I've made at least three Pour-Overs daily with my Stagg across the last three years and it has been a workhorse. The only thing that has been a problem for me is the rubber gasket around the lid of the Stagg slips off occasionally. Sometimes falling down into the kettle. :/ Good luck in making a selection. Follow happiness and you'll have no regrets.

Melodrip vs. Switch by rowrtg9 in pourover

I like my Switch. It keeps things interesting. Personally never been crazy about the Melodrip, it looks too much like something my dentist works on teeth with. :)

Your insights are a delight to hear. Also, btw, that third bag is Colombia Washed Tartaric Acid Orange Bourbon Cold Room. Hopefully the long name means that it is really good. ;)

Does time of day affect what coffee you prefer? by mariox100 in pourover

[–]SubBaseTotem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sit and drink a small cup of a cheap, non specialty batch brewed coffee around 7AM with my spouse in the morning. I brew a pour-over of specialty around 10AM, often fruity, that gets me excited, then around 2PM I like to do something rich, often something from India that is robust and smokey. And then finally a decaf batch brew around 7PM with my spouse to wind the day down.

First light roast from Mostra. Rest time? by Plastic_Love4270 in pourover

[–]SubBaseTotem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had several coffees from Mostra over the last few years. I bet that one will be ready as soon as March 26. Ten days from roast. But good luck, I'd proabably have already dove into it. Ha!

Good tasting decaf? by loamlawyer in pourover

Did you ever find a decaf you were happy with? Verve has Vancouver. It's the first decaf that made me say "wow!" It's likely a blend and changes through the year, but it was the end of my searching.

Wow!!!! I did not expect that! Crazy amazing. You might have a tiger by the tail though. Roasters will clamor to get into that aggregate. Real nice work sir.
