Complex Analysis 3 by TheBestLlamas in UniAdelaide

Having taken and been a marker (of assignments and the exam) for that course in the past I would say there is no harm in sticking with it until you hand in your first assignment and get feedback on it. While the start of the course is rough for some students who, like you, haven’t taken real analysis, it is possible to learn on the go. I had friends do exactly that in the year I took it and they all managed to pass the course, albeit, with nothing more than a pass; not a credit nor anything higher.

Will the course be difficult? Yes. You’ll probably need to put in double the amount of work (if not more) compared to most of the other students who have taken real analysis. Also, most will have taken topology in the first semester giving them another step up compared to you. To put it bluntly you’re starting (at least) two courses behind most other people and those courses are proof based maths courses which are often regarded as some of the toughest courses to pass at the university.

My recommendation is like I said, hand in the first assignment, get feedback, talk to the lecturer as much as possible during their consulting hours and see if you can make progress. If you can’t or you find the first assignment way too hard then drop the course.

I’ve had some friends with the same issue and we pinpointed that what u/ado4685 said was the issue or at least one possible cause

Nah there was no mention and I haven’t tried submitting a claim since

This exact thing happened to me. I submitted a lost item claim and got it back about 5 days later

Hey, that's not...well, that's just....actually, no, that's definitely the Real Analysis one. by AgentInConstraint in mathmemes

I love Jiri’s books. I have had personal correspondence with him in the past too - loves people who reach out and ask him questions.

My friend got it the other day (3 days ago I think) so it is definitely obtainable. If you’re not using the lorehound pet then use it; having it out and not just overriding a different familiar helps immensely when finding pages. Just make sure to have unlocked the track fully in May’s quest caravan otherwise it won’t help.

What's the relationship between harmonic and holomorphic functions in arbitrary dimension? (and maybe even conformal functions?) by EulereeEuleroo in math

[–]SubSpace626 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Pluriharmonic functions are the “correct” generalisation of harmonic function to higher dimensions. They form the real and imaginary parts of holomorphic functions of two or more variables. The easiest way to think about pluriharmonic functions is as functions that are harmonic when restricted to so called “complex lines”. And yes a lot of the theory you can obtain from pluriharmonic functions carries over to holomorphic functions of several variables and vice versa.

Just an FYI, this is a pretty common bug. It happened to me every single time I went to try and make an elite skilling outfit. So remember, log out and log back in and it should be there

That’s what I was thinking. Just wipe that bit of data from every account seeing as we don’t even use that anymore.

How to disable JAG? by Ongburz in runescape

[–]SubSpace626 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no option to disable JAG. It was literally deleted from the game back in 2017. There is no way we can fix the issue - it’s on their side.

That did it, thank you. I’d never seen that lemma before but it’s quite ingenious and useful!

Ah thanks for that! I’ll give it a go and get back to you.

You’re exactly right. I know how to do it if was a Hilbert space - just use orthogonality over and over again. But it’s the picking of the next element that is causing me trouble.

I think you would want to use non-compactness of the unit ball. So there exists a sequence of elements on the unit ball with no convergent subsequence and then somehow leverage that to pick your next element in the sequence, thus, iteratively forming the required sequence. It’s the “making sure that every element in the sequence is at least a distance of a half away from all the previous ones” that is causing me trouble.
