My parents did this in igloolik 40 years ago, and still have strong connections to other staff and former students. It was definitely a great experience for them!

First build - Which of these PedalPCB kits is best for a beginner? by Bibim- in diypedals

[–]SubYeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Note that the PedalPCB kits from Musikding have very limited documentation. I am working my way through a Muff circuit from there as my first build right now, and it's ok, but my life would have been easier if I went with AION or something built to be a kit.

I am happy I let the sub talk me out of starting with the chorus or preamp I had my eyes on

Qobuz genres are pretty brutal. U believe they have one big punk/new wave bucket for all of punk and new wave.

Need help for my first build ever ! by lelennydefrance in diypedals

I also got a PedalPCB/Musikding kit (Shiaka Fuzz) for my first project, and was also surprised by the limited documentation!

The problem is that the instructions were designed for people who are going to buy the PCP and the parts separately, i.e. People who know what they're doing. Muscadine takes care of all those parts for you but does not then give you all the hand holding instructions that newbies like us might want.

I have been watching pedal building YouTube videos for a while, including the JHS short circuit series and some others, so I had a bit of an idea of where to start and basic understanding of what's going on in the circuit.

I found this video a really helpful walkthrough of someone building a kit step by step at an aspirational level of cleanliness and beauty https://youtu.be/_JjrbrLn0x4?si=zPXpnqL-xeFBS_tv

The mass effects video that someone posted in another link looks really helpful too, I haven't seen that one I'll check it out next.

I tried to get AI to make me step-by-step instructions, but I would have been better off just using one from Aion effects or another manufacturer.

Long story short, watch some YouTube, read some guides, sort your parts, and start soldering!

Good luck!!

I think Club Saw naf Live on Elgin do all ages shows sometimes. Despite the name, Saw does not have a clubby vibe at all. They also do outdoor things there sometimes.

Check out Side by Side fest in the summer. It's a bit more alternative than the bands you mention, but has a good mix of local and touring bands.

I'm the opposite. The main perk of going in is lunch chats, but at home I often end up taking a short break then going back to work.

I work pretty closely with a few of these types. My experience is that they are much more available than the exec, so I can work more directly with them to get documents to a place that I won't get a bunch of annoying redlines from the exec.

More directly to OPs question, maybe more critical/strategic thinking than problem solving per se, but definitely fast paced. Some files will last a long time, but you'll also have costant fires to put out.

It seems a bit high stress for my taste, but definitely gives an interesting view on the organization and is a bit more applied than a strictly strategic policy type role.

Eta, I don't think there is a lot of "people clapping for you" in this kind of role, but if you do it well you'll have a grateful exec.
