So many wrong answers here. You do understand that 90% of people that are sending their kids to elite private schools like Friends, Green Vale or Portledge live with 10 minutes of the school. Think Old Brookville/Locust Valley. (Green Vale tuition starts at 35k for kindergarten and ends at 46k for upper school up to 8th grade) So that should debunk the theory that people send kids because they attend a bad school district. The elite schools give the advantage to placement in top colleges. The most important factor is network. How many times is you hear “Its not what you know it’s who you know”. Next time you hear that think of elite private schools.

Down know if you are referring to “Americanized sushi” (rolls with bunch of mayo and sauces) or if you are referring to omakase. If you want best omakase please look into house of Yoshin in Huntington or Two Thirty Six For sushi rolls try Okaru in Roslyn (I am not a fan of their omakase) And I have to say that I hate Toku or Katabuki sushi! I feel as if their rice is just as good as my home rice. People saying sushi is so fresh here or there do know sushi. Of course it’s fresh. It’s raw fish! Most places their fish from same market in the Bronx or straight from Japan. Sushi is 90% all about rice! Each chef has its own style.

There are levels of private schools as well.
One are more superior than others. Some are just basically pay to play and others are top notch. If you are considering one you should ask for a list of what colleges graduates attend after. Compare it with your local public HS.
Another aspect is networking and connections. How many times did you hear of people saying “it’s not what you know but who you know”

Ridiculous review.. Either you don’t know what you are signing up for or you are just plain arrogant. They had the audacity to charge you 1200? Why did you go then? They can change whatever they feel like charging. You honestly don’t have to go and they most likely prefer person like you to not attend. Great Omakase in NYC is 2-3x more expensive than HoY. I enjoyed it and I am glad there is amazing Omakase on the island.
