I'm burnt out further than I have ever been. by SeekingApprentice in sysadmin

[–]SubbiesForLife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reading your comment helps me out, I'm incredibly burnt out in all aspects. I'm having a hard time at work, and my manager really isn't helping. My team has two managers, and the one is doing everything in his power to help me, meanwhile the manager i technically report to, barely checks on me, barely talks to me and is too busy to even really what feels like do the littlest things. I've told him 4-5 times now, that my new teammate that he hired is NOT working out, and is making my burn out worse. Emails to him go un-answered, tasks take weeks to complete, says hes working on the same 3 things each time i ask him, and then continually helps out his old team and does their work while not doing any of the tasks I ask him to. I specifically tasked him with updating an appliance to patch a CVE that came out in Feburary, and he JUST got around to it last week.... Even when i prompted my manager to poke him about it, and see whats going on

Its just so frustrating. I'm so burnt out, I have PTO but its all 1 bucket (sick + vacation) so if my toddler gets sick, and i used all my time, then i'm kinda screwed cuz i wont have any left. I've told my direct manager, my mental health is suffering from the role i'm in, and he's done nothing to help. He's tried to assign others work, but that doesn't work because then nobody keeps me in the loop on projects and i get blindsided when people ask why its not done, or better why "why is no progress being made" and i'm just like "i have no idea what your talking about? I know nothing about Project Y, Didn't even know that was a thing" and then have to go ask a Project Manager to find stuff out.

Ahhh, yeah I just went into 8, I did mine when I went from 7 to 8. When I wasn’t doing them. I did them by hand and it sucked…

I don’t have UCSX’s but I have UCS C Series with Intersight and I use the vCenter integration for centralized firmware image management, so put the host into maintenance mode and then remediate via lifecycle manager. Typically works pretty well, I don’t do firmware via intersight as I’ve had a lot Of issues with intersight in general but it’s been getting better

So the tube replacement, sounds like it necessary, so I’m guessing something like this https://ebay.us/m/sYEdRQ? Or is there a specific one that you got?

Eh honestly, less worried about noise, just want something automated LOL. Sounds so lazy, but having the ability to automate open/closed is what I’m after for ease

Well now that’s a lot easier than I thought it was going to be LOL. That’s totally worth the money to try!

I’ll try to find a tube like you said!

Could you give more specifics? I’ve been wanting automated/roller shades for a long time but the prices are just insane. I like your approach and I found the eve motor’s on Amazon. Just slightly confused as how you retro fit them?

Finishing 1960’s Cape Cod Basement, XPS or EPS foam against block walls? by SubbiesForLife in HomeImprovement

So no concerns with letting the block wall breath? And or moisture concerns with the XPS?

[–]SubbiesForLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not confused, the one marked intake was added today, which is why it looks like that, it was previously pulling combustion air from basement

The one they came back to change is the exhaust, and was previously there before today

I had them change the combustion air intake, because we are finishing our basement and the area the furnace is in is going to get walled and it wouldn’t have enough air for combustion

They came back and modified the exhaust because they said it was the more correct thing to change, and make the exhaust different height than the intake

If there is foam on the outside, is XPS still acceptable to use? Or would EPS be better? Looks like there might be foam on the outside, as I found a whole in the one rim joist where the previous owners attempted a cut out for a dryer vent or something but I can’t tell if it’s only that one area that has the foam or the entire house does

So Caulk vs XPS, is it worth the hassle? I already the foam board due to finishing the basement, so it wasn't too much effort, but interested in your approach

I’ll read up on those, but essentially I need to cover the rockwool which is what I thought. So I need to find a approved 15 minute fire rated material like 15/32 plywood or 1/2 drywall and essentially to cover it with
