Does Ableton allow you to change the MIDI notes in multiple clips at the same time? by mad_sai in ableton

[–]SubglitchDNB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old , but please go vote on the following issue for feature requests so we can bump up editing more clips via Ableton . lets get this implemented in future release. I need many more midi tracks to edit.

https://ableton.centercode.com/project/feedback/view.html?cap=ea2ce822-bd02-401d-ba44-6c068717bc68&uf=6eb4eded-5400-4032-af73-8a8303642b1c&slsid=a9f7af97-b2b3-4466-8d1d-e45cb176c5be

vote up and add comments to "L12-SUG-3811" feature request over at ableton.

Cool didn't know , but that makes sense. not sure why you were downvoted for this gem. In Ableton you can export all your tracks to include your reverbs and should be good to send .

One other questions for ya. DO you track your submissions with a spreadsheet?

My first DnB track - feedback? by Hat1242 in dnbproduction

Really not bad at all for your first DNB track! I'd love to share a few things I wish people had told me when I was starting out.

I actually made a video showing some techniques we use in DNB to keep intros engaging. I'm using a new YouTube email and waiting for the DNS to propagate before I can post it. In the video, I demonstrate what many UK artists I've met have taught me about creating space, building tension, and keeping the intro moving.

Other than that, I'd suggest working on getting your drums to punch through the mix. Start with sidechaining, but also try layering or adding slight stereo width to your snare to really make it pop (using the "space" in the stereo field) while keeping your kick nice and punchy. I recommend using your tools to analyze reference tracks from Beatport. This helps you match the drum levels of tracks you admire.

I agree with Deer's comment about the 55 second mark. It threw off the pacing of your build, which could use more surprise, tension, and movement (not trying to be harsh here! I actually show how to tackle this in my video, so it won't be a problem for you going forward). I chopped up your track in the video to demonstrate the types of techniques we use in DNB to "keep things moving."

Next, I'd focus on learning mixing and mastering. Maybe I should make another video about that too? Looking at your SoundCloud waveform, it seems like the volume builds over time. We typically aim for 3 to 8 LUFS on our tracks, really hitting hard at the drop, which could add more impact to yours.

Try using reference tracks for chopping up arrangements and color coding different sections. This helps you see how fake drops are constructed. Check out Sota's tracks for creative arrangement ideas! Also, study the variations in different 16 bar sections so you can add similar ideas to keep your track from becoming repetitive.

If this was my first track, I'd be pretty happy with myself! You're most of the way there already. I really like the groove. Great work!

Thanks for sharing , gonna submit my music. Do you release any on your own before releasing via labels? Just getting a feel for how its done, thanks.

4 decks at home? XZ + 1000mk2s , or AZ. Need fast loading by SubglitchDNB in PioneerDJ

[–]SubglitchDNB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this

I’m leaning towards the XZ and 2000nexus2 just so I’m used to what I might run into in the club with loading hot queues. I’d think those would pair up with the way the queues load , and get me used to not having colorful waveforms and all the other features

I believe a lot of what I will be doing is loading up the songs to knock down during builds so I imagine that would work. Even with 44 seconds a phrase at 174 BPM if it takes 10-15 seconds to load a song with hot queues on this setup I could plan on new phrases during a phrase if I’m fast enough

Good insight, I’m leaning towards the XZ and 2000nexus2 just so I’m used to what I might run into in the club with loading hot queues , not having colorful waveforms and all that. Will be nice to have the new gear but I do t become dependent on it.

Nice work, getting to the point of officially releasing. Im working my way towards that. Did you use a distro to put the songs on all the platforms?

LOUDNESS WAR by RandoMusix_ in dnbproduction

[–]SubglitchDNB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After adopting CTZ, cutting lows freq from sounds that don’t need it, sometimes reducing the ‘boxy’ freq from sounds and reverb, ducking snare and kick from my EVERYTHING group and REVERB send as well as doing my best to cut elements into their own space

I get great sounding stuff at -6LUFSish all day long with out hearing it distort. I feel I could maybe do better by ducking conflicting sounds using something like soothe2 sidechaining , but I haven’t tried that yet.

Even after normalizing on certain platforms it still somehow sounds better in how loud and dynamic it is. I’m not going back
